Good:
All fresh fruit and veg. Bananas and orange juice contain a lot of potassium which helps to reduce BP. Celery and garlic are good too. Calcium can help (supplements are inexpensive).
Exercise is good, a brisk walk for half an hour, cycle or swim.
Bad:
Salt, fatty and.or sugary food, too much caffeine (coffee especially). Too much booze is bad. Supplements like ginseng and guarana can also push up BP.
If you smoke, stop.
BUT – - –
If you have high blood pressure talk to your doctor before starting an exercise regime or taking any supplements.
For reducing hypertension reduce salt intake. Avoid junk foods as they have very high levels of sodium and it is actually the sodium in the salt (sodium chloride, NaCl) which increases hypertension. So, taking extra sodium in any other form will also increase hypertension.
One ayurvedic remedy:
Take 250 grams of poppy seeds and 250 grams of peeled water melon seeds.
Grind these two together to a powder form. Then take one teaspoon with water in morning on empty stomach and on teaspoon with water before going to bed. It will effectively control your hypertension without any side effects.
The pressure on kidneys is a usual reason for hypertension. Take barley water every day. It flushes out the kidneys and keeps the blood pressure in normal levels.

DON’T buy any of the herbal remedies advertised on the internet. They are expensive and there is no conclusive proof that they help.
