<p>Hypertension is a condition of increased blood pressure on blood vessels. It is considered as one of the most common lifestyle diseases and has affected around 50 million people in the United States. Hypertension, also called high blood pressure, is categorized into two types &#8211; essential hypertension and secondary hypertension &#8211; on the basis of the underlying causes for its occurrence. The reason for essential hypertension is not easily identifiable and treated, while secondary hypertension is the complication of any other existing chronic disease such as alcohol abuse, kidney failure, and hormonal imbalance. It is a highly risky disease, which essentially needs treatment, since it can lead to arteriosclerosis that results degenerative diseases, stroke, and cardiac arrest. </p>
<p> Now, natural treatment is preferred to reduce hypertension, as people are more aware of the possible side effects of conventional medication. Natural treatment methodology also has a unique advantage to cure the underlying causes, which the conventional medicines usually lack. <p>Gary Craig, the Stanford-trained engineer who developed EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) maintains “according to EFT theory, people who have a heightened stress response also have a disrupted energy meridian system.  Conventional coping strategies tend to be ineffective because they fail to balance these vital pathways.”</p>

<p>EFT is a do-it-yourself acupressure technique that anybody can learn.  It combines focused thought with gentle fingertip tapping on key acupressure points. <p>The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) states that stress in the workplace is costing over 0 billion as a result of absenteeism, accidents, employee turnover and diminished productivity as well as medical, insurance and workers compensation costs. <p>Gary Craig explains, “EFT has chronicled thousands of cases where both the physical and emotional symptoms of stress were eliminated within just a few minutes, or a few sessions. <p>Peggy Thiel was on leave from work due to a persistent and worsening irregular heartbeat combined with high blood pressure (160/105 when she left work). <p>First, she spent about 3 minutes doing EFT for her heart palpitations.  The palpitations subsided and stayed away all day. Thiel writes, “I am a rank beginner, having never even heard of this process until last night, I&#8217;ve only done it now a total of 3 times, and it&#8217;s stabilized my heart rhythm and lowered my blood pressure over 20 points … I have never seen anything work like this.”</p>

<p>Thiel didn’t know the mechanics behind EFT; she simply followed the procedure and balanced her own energy meridian system.  In doing so, she moved her blood pressure out of the danger zone of Stage 1 Hypertension.  According to Craig, “not everybody can expect to have the same instant results, but if performed correctly and with persistence, EFT’s clinical results show that people improve their condition in about 80% of cases”.</p>

<p>People with high blood pressure may find relief by practicing transcendental meditation, according to a definitive new meta-analysis of 107 published studies on stress reduction programs and high blood pressure, which will be published in the December issue of Current Hypertension Reports.</p>

<p>The transcendental meditation technique produces a statistically significant reduction in high blood pressure that is not found with other forms of relaxation, meditation, biofeedback or stress management.</p>
<p>The new meta-analysis reviewed randomized, controlled trials of all stress reduction and relaxation methods in participants with high blood pressure that have been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.</p>
<p>Blood pressure changes for the transcendental meditation technique included average reductions of 5.0 points on systolic blood pressure and 2.8 on diastolic blood pressure, which were statistically significant, according to the review. The other stress reduction programs did not show significant changes in blood pressure.</p>
<p>Blood pressure changes associated with transcendental meditation practice were consistent with other controlled studies showing reductions in cardiovascular risk factors, improved markers of heart disease, and reduced mortality rates among participants in the Transcendental Meditation Program.</p>
