Blood Pressure Monitor – Is You’re Blood Pressure Ok?

The focus on reducing high blood pressure in today’s society is more so then ever now we now know that living with a high blood pressure can result in having a stroke or a fatal heart attack.

High blood pressure is the most common cardiovascular disease amongst the older generation aged 60 plus – high blood pressure actually effects 2 in 3 in those aged 70 or above and often comes without warnings, lending it the name ‘The Silent Killer’.

The reason heart attacks are common amongst those with high blood pressure is simply because the heart must work far more then normal and eventually is unable to carry out the excessive workload high blood pressure demands in the body.

Due to the silent nature of a high blood pressure it’s recommended you monitor your blood pressure regularly, especially if you’re in the 60 plus age range. Once a year is enough to keep tabs on your blood pressure and it’s cheap and painless – therefore no one has any excuse not to monitor theirs!

Your doctor will have a blood pressure monitor and you can get yourself checked out there and then in the doctor’s office or surgery. It’s very swift. There is however other methods of monitoring your blood pressure and these include devices you can use at home. The type of device you will need to monitor your own blood pressure is called the sphygmomanometer – this comes with the cuff and systems to register your blood pressure accurately. You can even get ones which give automatic read-outs. I recommend searching around the Internet and choose the right device for you as there are many choices out there.

The most important factor is you exercise regularly and take good care of yourself.

What Do The Numbers In A Blood Pressure Reading Mean?

The heart pumps blood, which is carried by the blood vessels called arteries, to every part of the human body. Blood pressure is basically the pressure or force at which the blood is pushed against the arterial walls. With every heartbeat, blood is pumped out and a pressure is generated.

How do we measure blood pressure? Well it is done with a very common instrument, called sphygmomanometer; all of us have seen the doctor wrapping a cuff (inflatable) around our upper arm. A balloon like pump is used to pump in air into this cuff until the circulation is temporarily stopped. Then a stethoscope is used over the cuff, silence prevails. Then the air is allowed to flow out and the blood flows again, which is heard with the help of the stethoscope.

Blood pressure is measured in numbers, the normal being 120/80. Do you know what it means? Well, it means systolic/diastolic. Systolic is the higher and diastolic is the lower number.

The pressure due to the contraction of the heart is the Systolic pressure and the remaining pressure is the one present in the arteries between the heartbeats, while at rest, it is the Diastolic pressure, it is measured in mercury millimeters abbreviated as mm Hg.

The first mentioned is the systolic pressure and the other one is the diastolic pressure. If a person is said to have a blood pressure level of 140/90, it means his systolic is 140 and diastolic is 90. 130-139 of systolic pressure and 85 to 89 of diastolic pressure needs to be carefully watched. Anything above this is an alarm and predicts a higher level of blood pressure. Both these numbers are important and a healthy level should be maintained.

As stated above, 120 (systolic) / 80 (diastolic) is considered to be a healthy pressure level. The level of blood pressure changes all through the day, you can understand the change as it affects your health.

Blood pressure levels above 140/90 are actually a state of hypertension. A person, whose blood pressure levels are elevated, needs to be extra cautious. Such elevating numbers are caused due to constricted arteries. Almost 90% people suffering from elevated levels of blood pressure are bound to have hypertension, which means the cause behind the rise in the blood pressure cannot be identified. The remaining 10% of the cases of high blood pressure can be an outcome of having another lifestyle disease like diabetes or other disorders like kidney problem or some other disorders.

Knowing the exact figures are very crucial, you should be aware of your blood pressure levels at all times. Persistent hypertension can lead to severe complications, which can be a threat to your life. The blood vessels lack flexibility because of the pressure against the inner wall, thus making the vessels vulnerable to form fat deposits.

Hypertension actually compels the heart to perform harder and pump ample blood within the body, this extra effort causes an enlarged muscle that leads to enlargement of heat. This eventually results in insufficient blood supply, because the heart fails to pump enough blood.

A low blood pressure is also not healthy; it can make your body weak and feeble.

Try to maintain the correct level of blood pressure, if the levels are elevating; take necessary steps to reduce it. Incase of hypertension; avoid salt, check your diet and exercise to keep yourself fit. Maintaining your ideal body weight and not allowing fat deposits should be your motto for a healthy living.

High Blood Pressure Medication

Controlling your blood pressure is just one of many things you can do to prevent stroke. Many people assume that strokes can’t be prevented. Controlling High Blood Pressure also requires you to make changes to your lifestyle, through proper diet and exercise. To assist you, there are various herbal remedies available that are reported to help lower HBP.

Medicine can be a great high blood pressure treatment. Ask your doctor if any medications might be right for you. Medicines will control your blood pressure, but they cannot cure it. You will need to take blood pressure medicine for a long time.

Drugs that help lower high blood pressure have various side effects. If you experience severe side effects from any drug, contact your doctor immediately. Drugs that lower blood pressure include diuretics, beta blockers and calcium channel blockers.

Salt substitutes usually contain potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride as found in salt. The salt substitute makes you produce saliva much in the same way salt does. Salt and sugar intake must be dramatically curtailed with an increase in fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy protects, fiber and protein from meat, fish and poultry. Losing weight will result in lower blood pressure.

Vasodilators open blood vessels by relaxing the muscle in the vessel walls. Calcium channel blockers (CCBs) prevent calcium from getting into the muscle cells of the heart and blood vessels, relaxing the blood vessels. Vasodilators are not commonly used alone to treat ongoing high blood pressure because of the significant drop in blood pressure that they cause, which may lead to heart palpitations or rapid heartbeat. They may be used if a person is in a hypertensive crisis or when other classes of medicine are not effective in controlling high blood pressure.

Potassium pills may need to be taken with some diuretics. A diet high in potassium also may be needed. Potassium levels and kidney function are watched closely as the dose increases.

Tekturna works by reducing the ability of renin to begin this process. Doctors say Tekturna is unique because it acts earlier in your body’s blood pressure process than other medications. Tekturna is known as a renin inhibitor. Renin is an enzyme produced by your kidneys that starts a cascade of chemical steps that increases blood pressure.

Calcium Channel Blockers reduce the overall level of calcium in the heart, reducing blood pressure. Alpha Blockers lower blood pressure by limiting the nerve impulses sent to the blood vessels, while Alpha-Beta Blockers combine the effects of Alpha-Blockers and Beta-Blockers. Calcium channel blockers keep calcium from entering the muscle cells of the heart and blood vessels. This reduces the heart rate and causes the blood vessels to relax. Calcium, magnesium, potassium, and CoQ10 deficiencies are directly linked to high blood pressure. Therefore reducing their amounts in the body can make it more difficult for your doctor to normalize your blood pressure.

Beta-blockers are also one of the types of drugs used to lower blood pressure. Although migraines are not considered to be high blood pressure headaches, high blood pressure medication does seem to help. Beta blockers will lower blood pressure by regulating the heart rate. Other effective drugs for lowering your pressure are vasodilators, ace inhibitors and calcium channel blockers. Beta blockers are one group. They slow the heart down.

Alternative medicine is relatively inexpensive while medications can easily cost a small fortune. Furthermore, medications usually have side effects, which may be difficult for some people to handle. Alternative therapies can help to cure the problem of high blood pressure without taking recourse to conventional drugs that often have serious side effects. The focus of alternative treatments is to treat the very source of the disease.

Talk to your doctor about adjusting your medication and making lifestyle changes that will lower your blood pressure to under 140/90.

What Causes High Blood Pressure, Symptoms and Treatment

High blood pressure is a serious condition that affects one in four adults. High blood pressure is dangerous because it makes the heart work harder to pump blood to the body. It is the force of blood against the walls of arteries. It makes the heart work harder to pump blood to the body and causes the hardening of the arteries. Normal blood pressure is less than 130/85. High blood pressure is higher than 140/90. Hypertension is between 120/80 and 140/90.

Causes of High Blood Pressure

Studies show many different kinds of secondary high blood pressure where the primary causes may be quite different from the continuing causes. An example is a rare disease known as coarctation of the aorta, a disease of the large artery carrying blood out of the heart. In this condition, the aorta is tightly constricted a few inches beyond its origin and then expands to its normal diameter. Undoubtedly, blood pressure must rise above the constriction and fall below it, just as it does when one compresses a hosepipe. Yet, if this constriction is removed surgically and the normal continuity of the aorta is restored, blood pressure usually takes several years to fall to normal level. The initial case of high blood pressure is the constriction, but the continuing cause is probably complex changes in circulating hormones, which function to maintain blood flow through the kidneys despite the obstruction, which may persist for a long time even after the obstruction, has gone.

Pressure in a hose can be regulated either by controlling the rate at which fluid passes through it or by widening it. Pressure inside your arteries can cause the muscles that line the walls of the arteries to thicken. Your blood pressure is at its highest when the heart beats, pumping the blood. When the heart is at rest, between beats, your blood pressure falls. Still, for most of your waking hours, your blood pressure stays pretty much the same when you are sitting or standing still.

The last cause is one in which you have absolutely no control over. It is genetics. On its own, genetics doesn’t cause high blood pressure, but it feeds all the other causes. Think of it as fertilizer so to speak. If you have a family history of high blood pressure, then your very prone to getting it yourself. With the right genes you can have a high fat and sodium diet, never exercise, drink tons of coffee and stress out on a daily basis, yet still have a reasonably low blood pressure. With the wrong genes, even a little too much salt may be enough to kick your blood pressure into a dangerous range.

Symptoms of High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure has no symptoms. But if you feel a dull ache in the back of your head when you wake up one morning, or you have few more nosebleeds than normal, you could have a high blood pressure. Headaches, nosebleeds, and dizziness are also common warning signs and symptoms of high blood pressure, but these do not occur until high blood pressure has reached a more advanced stage. However, many people even with the highest blood pressure readings do not feel any of these symptoms.

Palpitations, tension headaches and hyperventilation are symptoms of anxiety and so are common in people who are anxious or frightened. If they already have these symptoms and are then unfortunately found to have high blood pressure, then the diagnosis may confirm their fears and reinforce the symptoms. Others may get palpitations for the first time after they have been told that they have high blood pressure. They are not caused by high blood pressure itself, but by fear of it and what the diagnosis means. The symptoms usually disappear, although not always immediately, with adequate explanation of what a diagnosis of high blood pressure really means.

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is considered a modern day disease that can lead to heart disease and stroke. As soon as symptoms are apparent, the proper treatment should be sought immediately. Hypertension, if left untreated, can cause the heart to enlarge due to the increased force necessary to pump blood against the greater resistance in your vessels. It is often called “the silent killer”. It affects nearly 50 million Americans

High Blood Pressure Treatment

Complimentary Therapies – Right medication will curb the level of blood pressure. Living a life with the right practice and involvement will help you to get better relief. It is advisable to join any meditation group or even you can buy books that teach you meditation. In spite of increasing the level of blood pressure, meditation will put an end to the trouble. Moreover, meditation will make your mind to achieve balance pose and position.

Acupuncture combined with electric stimulation or electro-acupuncture can lower elevations of blood pressure in human beings. When the research was conducted for the first time, acupuncture needles were inserted on the inside of the forearm just above the wrist, but to no avail. Researchers then started adding electric stimulation to the needles, which means that electric would start flowing from the needles to the body.

Reducing High Blood Pressure is Not Something You Need To Be Afraid of

 By: Paul Filinovich
Posted: Aug 30, 2010

As with most medical conditions similar to hypertension, the problem isn’t finding a solution, it is mustering the inner strength and drive to say no to unsafe behaviors, and to learn new beneficial habits. Hypertension would probably stay safely undeveloped in 90% of the people who are most likely to develop it, if all that was necessary was knowledge.

Some of things folks struggle with when implementing high blood pressure treatments are:

How do you learn to like plain food without even a small amout of salt?
Losing weight is a big dilemma for a considerable amount of people, how will I expect to make it when others can’t?
How does a man or woman, who has a history of addictive tendencies, learn to say no to tobacco?
I can’t even boil water, how can I figure out how to make healthy foods on a daily basis?
If I can’t even find the time to get my chores finished, how do I make time to exercise?

These kinds of things as well as many other have bewildered not just you and I, but thousands of others all through the years. In light of temptations that won’t take no for an answer, most individuals give up trying to retain their grip on a heart healthy diet and way of life.

There have been brief victories that I’m sure we have all experienced. We sometimes find the self-will and become extremely motivated to begin a new lifestyle. This sort of drive is most common around the beginning of the New Year. However this is an impermanent resolution, and eventually we once again crave “the good life.” Everyday life soon settles in and makes it hard to go on without the need to treat ourselves with a little extra something of one sort or another, and the next thing we know we are back to where we began.

So any treatment for an illness such as High blood pressure, that is reliant upon our actions, must address the general predicament of the human condition so as to be successful. Our human will power is similar to a muscle. It will be weak unless it gets exercised. Wishing for will power is like wishing for bodily strength. It must be exercised, and with every small victory we become stronger and stronger.

So do not expect miraculous results right away. Strive to achieve some minor victory in your life that will grant you some capacity for additional growth and then congratulate yourself for the triumph. After that, continue on to face another of your challenges. Before you try to face a big difficulty in your life, such as tobacco or weight reduction, first get a few small accomplishments behind you. This will give you confidence and steam, and will prepare you for those harder challenges.

An example of a moderate problem could be be the tendency to sleep too long. Train yourself to get up on time, and then reward yourself for this success and value the benefits of having extra time to prepare for your day. After you understand that you can win little accomplishments like this, you will be more able to cope with the bigger ones like smoking and dieting.

Finally, it is very important that you don’t hide from your problem. Make yourself conscious of your need for change at each opportunity. Read material concerning it; take note of people who speak of it. You may not be ready to manage the situation this soon, but permit yourself to be exposed to the realities of the implications so that it sticks in your brain. Eventually, your brain will process your necessity to bring about the change, and you WILL acquire the strength to follow through with it. But you cannot continue acting as if it doesn’t exist. Welcome it, acknowledge it, and give it strength by understanding your need for it.

In a lot of ways, Reducing High Blood Pressure is very comparable to acquiring additional talents. Luckily, this aptitude will build up your quality of life over all.

Acid Reflux Food Tips For Controlling Heartburn

Heartburn and acid reflux are to a large extent the result of what kind of diets we adhere to. This becomes obvious when you consider the fact that healthy digestion is due to proper levels of stomach acid. A diet composed of good acid reflux food can limit the amount of these acids, thereby reducing the possibility of reflux. When the stomach acids become increased, they have a greater chance of disabling the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), which normally keeps the stomach contents in place.

Symptoms of High Blood Pressure – How Do You Know If You’ve Got It?

 By: Chad
Posted: Feb 21, 2011

 ]]>

What are the symptoms of high blood pressure? With most health matters, we are quite used to being able to monitor ourselves for any unusual changes. So how can we know if we have hypertension? In this article, I’ll reveal to you why all is not quite as it seems.

Possible Symptoms

There are some possible symptoms that you should be on the lookout for and report to your doctor a.s.a.p.

Some of these include nausea, headaches, blurred vision and even erectile problems in men.

The Silent Killer

But herein lies the problem – most people with high blood pressure do not have any symptoms at all. And these symptoms only appear in those with extremely high blood pressure where something must be done immediately.

 Read more articles
High Blood Pressure or Hypertension Silent Killer

Trust me, whatever you do you should not wait until you have symptoms before acting. Get your blood pressure checked (if you haven’t done already) and then take steps to remedy it.

This is why doctors have dubbed hypertension “the silent killer”. Just small increases above normal can lead to a doubled or tripled increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

How To Cure It – Drugs

Many people turn to drugs, often encouraged by their doctor. But herein lies another problem – these drugs work in many different ways to try to widen your arteries.

Doctors must pair drugs up because one drug will often cause bad side effects and the other is needed to counteract it. It is not uncommon for your doctor to try several combinations in succession in an effort to find one that is right for you. In the meantime you have to put up with symptoms such as constipation, urinary problems and even sexual side effects.

How To Cure It – Natural Methods

Even doctors agree that drugs often fail and that natural methods are far superior. Wide ranging studies have been done that have proved that natural methods work.

Essentially they involve small changes to your diet and lifestyle plus additional supplementation. You do not need to become Lance Armstrong or Steve Prefontaine if you want to lower your blood pressure!

Is your b.p. higher than 115/75? Then you’re slowly killing yourself. Stop this madness and make a commitment starting today that you are going to do something about it. Get the full, step-by-step plan that you need to lower your blood pressure naturally by checking out our guide here.

Low blood pressure Medications

Why blood pressure
Certain nominal blood pressure is needed to circulate the blood in to the body to supply nutrient and oxygen for energy. Normally blood pressure is indicated by two numbers diastolic over systolic. Systolic pressure during heart contracts and diastolic pressure during heart dilates (rest).

Blood pressure is the force exerted by circulating blood on the walls of blood vessels, and constitutes one of the principal vital signs of life, which also include heart beat, rate of breathing, and temperature. Blood pressure is generated by the heart pumping blood into the arteries and is regulated by the response by the arteries to the flow of blood.

An individual’s blood pressure is expressed as systolic/diastolic blood pressure, for example, 120/80.The systolic blood pressure (the top number) represents the pressure in the arteries as the muscle of the heart contracts and pumps blood into them. The diastolic blood pressure (the bottom number) represents the pressure in the arteries as the muscle of the heart relaxes after it contracts. Blood pressure always is higher when the heart is pumping (squeezing) than when it is relaxing.

If these blood pressure drops below certain range causes many annoying low blood pressure symptoms such as blurred vision, dizziness, fatigue, fainting, palpitation and etc.

Low blood pressure range
The blood pressure which is considered to be low is as below:

Systolic blood pressure lower than 90 mmHg or Diastolic blood pressure lower than 60 mmHg

If any one of the number is lower than the above said range then it is considered as low blood pressure or hypotension.

Low blood pressure (hypotension) is pressure so low it causes symptoms or signs due to the low flow of blood through the arteries and veins. When the flow of blood is too low to deliver enough oxygen and nutrients to vital organs such as the brain, heart, and kidney, the organs do not function normally and may be permanently damaged.

If these annoying of low blood pressure occur, then need treatments. First try to overcome these low blood pressure symptoms by following lifestyle changes or hypotension guidelines. Hypotension guidelines are just some smart food choices and certain healthy exercises to normalize blood pressure and stop annoying low blood pressure symptoms.

Hypotension Medicines
Even after following hypotension guidelines, if the blood pressure is not normalize or if the low blood pressure is very low in the danger zone then it is must to take conventional medications based on the low blood pressure causes and symptoms. Some of the most commonly prescribed low blood pressure medications for low blood pressure treatments are:

Fludrocortisone, Midodrine, Pyridostigmine, Caffeine, Erythropoietin, Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

I personally benefited with alternative medicine such as herbs, homeopathy, yoga, acupressure and reflexology. I like everyone should enjoy that benefit, so I decided to popularize alternative medicine.
Low blood pressure
Low blood pressure medications

Question by ♥jayde: What are causes of high blood pressure when not overweight?
I am a 19 yr old female, I am 5’3 and weigh 119 pounds. I follow a meal plan by a dietitian and go to the gym 3 times a week. Yesterday at the doctor they informed me that I am “pre hypertension”. What in the world can cause this? I do not take any medications, and I don’t smoke either. I do have an eating disorder, but I have had it for 7+ years and blood pressure has never been a problem before.
Also my pulse was only 60

Best answer:

Answer by N
Causes of hypertension are not always known. It can be hereditary, due to hormones and other medical conditions. It is more likely that you were nervous when you were at the doctor’s office and your blood pressure was a little high due to anxiety.

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 16, 2008

High blood pressure is more treatable than ever before, thanks to a wide variety of lifestyle measures and medications, according to a new study led by Johns Hopkins professor Dr. Lawrence Appel.

These lifestyle measures can not only lower blood pressure, but also reduce the risk of complications from hypertension: stroke, heart attack, heart failure, and kidney disease.

What this new high blood pressure study has shown:

The research shows that the effects of lifestyle changes for treating high blood pressure are additive. Thus, the more you adopt, the greater the benefits.

In a study led by Dr. Lawrence Appel (co-author of the 2008 Johns Hopkins Hypertension and Stroke White Paper), people with pre-hypertension or mild hypertension who lost weight, followed the DASH diet, reduced salt and alcohol intake, and exercised regularly, lowered their systolic blood pressure by an extra 4 mm Hg over a six-month period, compared with people who only received advice on these lifestyle changes.

By making lifestyle adjustments, you’ll also improve the effectiveness of your blood pressure-lowering medication and lower your risk of hypertension complications such as heart attack and stroke.

Many people can keep up the diet and other lifestyle changes that help control hypertension and ward off disease, according to a study in the Annals of Internal Medicine (Volume 144, page 485).

How the high blood pressure study was conducted:

In a study of 810 adults with pre-hypertension or mild hypertension, researchers found that those who underwent a lifestyle overhaul were generally able to maintain the changes during the 18-month study. However, it did take some effort.

Participants had regular counseling sessions on how to incorporate lifestyle changes into their daily routines — which included eating more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy products; cutting down on saturated fat and sodium; getting at least three hours of exercise a week; and, if overweight, trying to shed 15 pounds.

Some participants received only advice on making these lifestyle changes, and they served as the control group. Compared with the advice-only group, those in the counseling group were about one-fifth less likely to have hypertension at the study’s end.

These findings show that with some help, small lifestyle changes can add up to effective results in lowering high blood pressure.

All for Supporting Normal Blood Pressure?

If you fall under one of the categories below you may want to pay special attention to your blood pressure and should begin taking proactive measures for supporting normal blood pressure:

Lead a sedentary lifestyle Are overweight, especially if you have a body mass index of 30 or higher Consume excessive alcohol regularly or use tobacco Your diet consists of high sodium intake If you have a history of unhealthy blood pressure in the family Are 35 and above

Reasons to Be Proactive in Supporting Normal Blood Pressure

Why should we consider modifying our lifestyles and taking some efforts to maintain normal blood pressure? Because if we DON’T take proactive blood pressure health seriously the consequences could include:

Unhealthy blood pressure in the arteries that lead to the brain can either slow down the circulation of blood flow to the brain or lead to a rupture of a blood vessel in the brain. This may be terminal or have serious effects on other parts of the body and their functions. Unhealthy blood pressure levels can lead to the thickening of heart muscles. This happens when heart muscles, in an attempt to cope with high pressure in blood vessels, work harder to pump blood to the rest of the body. This could have fatal consequences on the heart. Unhealthy blood pressure levels can also lead to the hardening of arteries. It can weaken and damage blood vessels. Weak and narrow blood vessels in the kidneys could impair their vital functions. Weak blood vessels in the eyes could lead to loss of vision. Weak blood vessels could also lead to poor blood circulation and cramping in the legs, or lower extremities. Studies show that unhealthy blood pressure levels are associated with poor memory and could affect the ability to think and perform cognitive functions. It can affect the body’s metabolism in several ways. A few of these ways could include increased triglycerides over cholesterol and high levels of insulin which could lead to other health complications.

Blood Pressure Supplements

What steps can you take to maintain healthy blood pressure levels? Most people know they should practice weight management, low-sodium diets, stress-relief, moderate their consumption of alcohol and exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. Did you know that you could also nutritionally supplement your diet with blood pressure supplements like Blood Pressure Matrix?

Blood Pressure Matrix contains nutrients such as:

Potassium citrate which helps to support normal sodium levels in the body. Vitamin D, considered one of the blood pressure vitamins, it plays a role in supporting normal blood pressure. Folic acid plays a role in supporting cardiovascular health. Taurine is an antioxidant that supports healthy blood pressure and immune health.

It also contains herbs, like hawthorn leaves and natto-kinase, which have been well-researched. They help to nutrionally support healthy blood circulation and normal blood pressure levels. You can add blood pressure supplements, like Blood Pressure Matrix, to your diet for nutritionally supporting normal blood pressure.

Determining Your Causes Of High Blood Pressure

If you have been diagnosed with high blood pressure it’s likely that you suddenly have many questions. Understanding how blood pressure, left untreated, can negatively impact your body is first and foremost. Grasping the enormity of the lifestyle changes you may have to make can be overwhelming. But across the board, those who suffer from this condition want to know and understand the causes of high blood pressure.

Everyone is different; and for that reason there is no one answer when it comes to the causes of high blood pressure. For many, the causes of high blood pressure relates to their poor diet and exercise habits; that is why many doctors when encountering high blood pressure in their patients will first recommend a strident lifestyle program to attempt to lower blood pressure.

Patients – in an effort to determine if food and exercise are their causes of high blood pressure – will be directed to immediately eliminate foods with high salt, fat, and excessive preservatives while increasing water intake, natural, whole foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables, and whole grains, and integrating daily exercise into their life. If a consistent program of healthy diet and exercise does not affect any changes, then other causes of high blood pressure will be examined.

Excessive alcohol and caffeine intake and the use of nicotine products can also be causes of high blood pressure. The immediate elimination of nicotine and significantly decreasing alcohol and caffeine consumption has been shown to have a positive effect on high blood pressure.

High levels of stress are another one of the causes of high blood pressure. In today’s chaotic world, stress can hardly be avoided. But learning to appropriately manage stress through exercise, meditation, and downtime can impact stress levels and help lower blood pressure.

Unfortunately, one of the more common causes of high blood pressure is simple genetic predisposition. When one or more family members suffer from high blood pressure than you are also likely to battle it as well. If a variety of lifestyle changes fails to determine your causes of high blood pressure than it’s likely that you are dealing with genetics. In this case, your doctor may prescribe daily medication designed to lower blood pressure.

Ultimately, the causes of high blood pressure are not as important as the successful ways in which we can manage it. Work with your health care provider to determine what works best for you in lowering your blood pressure. With consistent treatment – no matter what it is – those with high blood pressure can live a long and healthy life.

Defuse the ticking time bomb that could keep you from reaching your next birthday.

(Vocus/PRWEB) February 15, 2011

There are many natural supplements for high blood pressure. But the question is, are they effective? When you age, changes take place in your body. One of these changes is elasticity of your blood vessels. Many know that high blood pressure can lead to heart attack and stroke. But new studies show that high blood pressure can also effect memory loss. Natural high blood pressure supplements can help with heart disease symptoms and memory loss.

According to the Mayo Clinic, high blood pressure may lessen your ability to think, remember and learn as you age. Uncontrolled high blood pressure has been linked to cognitive decline and dementia. High blood pressure can produce tiny blockages and spots of degeneration within the brain. And researchers say that people who have a loss of cognitive abilities are the ones most likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease later in life.

It is important for adults to take proper care as they age and to do what they can to lower their high blood pressure. That is where natural high blood pressure solutions can help. Natural heart health supplements can do wonders for reducing blood pressure naturally. Ingredients such as nattokinase, bonito fish, celery seed extract, acetyl L-carnintine and cranberry extract, may help to lower blood pressure naturally, optimize blood mobility, avoid blood clots and guard against heart disease. Blood pressure supplements can also assist in increasing energy, strengthening immunity and help improve memory.

Adults searching for heart health solutions can find it by using natural health products such as Natto BP Plus™. The other benefits of these healthy heart supplements are that they can help adults prevent heart disease by decreasing blood thickness, increase oxygen flow throughout the body, and attack excess fibrin, the protein that sticks to blood vessel walls and impedes blood flow. This will aid in diminishing the heart’s workload.

Prescription drugs may lower blood pressure, but can also cause side effects; fatigue, cramps, dizziness, headache, constipation, insomnia, chronic cough, fever and anemia. Unlike prescription drugs with side effects, supplements for high blood pressure may help with the prevention of heart disease naturally without diuretics or vasodilators. Many responsible health care consumers resist consuming prescription drugs on a regular basis because of the negative side effects.

If adults are not able to control their high blood pressure symptoms, they not only run the risk of heart attacks and strokes, but could also be plagued with kidney failure and cognitive decline and dementia. Supplements for high blood pressure may help to control high blood pressure symptoms along with improving blood vessel health so that their lives can be fulfilling as they age.
