Weightlifting And High Blood Pressure – What's The Connection?

A few years ago people who were having tablets meant for blood pressure were coun seled not to lift weights because of the potential for temporary rises in their blood pressure. Now this advice has been altered as the enhancement in health of long term physical exertion have become redefined. Presently, weightlifting is no longer condemned for people with blood pressure troubles.

Lifting weights can produce a momentary boost in blood pressure. This increase can be notable – based on the weights you lift. However weightlifting can additionally have long term benefits for blood pressure that exceed the hazard of a occasional rise in BP levels.

Despite the fact that blood pressure will go up during weightlifting, this increase is only transient. A report showed that during weightlifting there is considerable unstable use of the cells that coat the major heart vessels, but despite that this change takes place only in people who suffer poor fitness levels. It seems that often exercising with weights and workouts offsets this side effect and results in improved condition of heart and vessels. Reports have proved that people who train with weights often have lower likelihood of heart problems.
Regular workouts, including moderate weight training, results in numerous fitness benefits, including helping to lower BP over time.

For those who have high BP, ask your health practitioner before having some exercise course. Your health practitioner can help you create an exercise routine tailored to your needs and medical conditions.

When you have high BP here are certain ways for getting started on a programme for lifting weight:

1. Discover and practice correct form while pumping iron to reduce the possibility of accidents.

2. Resist holding your breath. Holding your breath all through physical exertion can result in unsafe spikes in hypertension. Try to breathe normally and continuously every time you push. When weight training, blow out through your mouth as you are performing the work.

3.Heavier weights require more physical effort, which can result in a spike in hypertension. You can train your muscle tissue with lesser weights through increasing the quantity of motions.

4.If you are using hypertension medicine, it’s important to ensure your hypertensive state is controlled before initiating a pumping iron regime.

5.Continue to track your BP carefully of the course of the first spell of your weightlifting curriculum and allow your health care advisor be acquainted if you experience fluctuations in your blood pressure.

6.Listen to your body. Cease your movement abruptly if you become out of breath or dizzy or if you encounter chest aches or pressure.

So in the end we will say that a regime of both aerobic exercise and moderate can be helpful even though you are taking hypertension pills – provided you OK it with your GP first.

Celery Lowers Blood Pressure

Eating celery regularly can control high blood pressure without the use of drugs according to China’s Hunan Hemotological Research Center.

Celery contains a naturally occurring chemical called “apigenin” which has been shown to dilate the blood vessels and contribute to preventing high blood pressure. Celery also contains very small amounts of a chemical in called 3-n-butylphtalide (3nb) which lowers blood pressure by relaxing the smooth muscles that line the blood vessels. 3nb also lowers the level of stress hormones called catacholamines.

In the Middle East patients have routinely been given half a pound of celery a day to control hypertension. According to researchers at the University of Chicago, animals fed celery extracts had blood pressure readings 14 percent lower than those animals who did not receive the extracts. The animals were given the equivalent of 2 stalks daily. Systolic blood pressure readings went down an average of 15 points.

Compared to other vegetables celery has a nigh natural sodium content so it can satisfy the craving for salt on low-salt diets. It also has a high potassium value. This makes it excellent for people who are taking hypertensive medications. Celery contains 341 milligrams potassium and 125 milligrams sodium per 100 gram serving. Any food with a ratio of at least three parts potassium to one part sodium is good for people with high blood pressure. In the body, the ratio between potassium and sodium is more than two to one. Most prepared foods, including cooked vegetables, reduce the ratio more than tenfold.

When the diet is high in salt sodium is retained in the cells with a large amount of water. An abundant amount of potassium is necessary to displace the accumulated sodium in the cells. If potassium is not present, the tissue cells retain water with the sodium. For this reason doctors prescribe diuretics, commonly called “water pills” in order to remove the water. When diuretics are taken to lower the blood pressure, they work by removing sodium from the body. But when sodium is removed, potassium is also removed. For this reason potassium supplements are usually prescribed in conjunction with the hypertension drug.

Celery contains a natural diuretic substance and has been used traditionally in treating obesity because it tends to eliminate water weight. But the balance between sodium and potassium is not unbalanced as it is when synthetic drugs are taken.

For people who have blood pressure which is only mildly or moderately high, the eating of celery may be all that is needed to lower it to normal levels. But even for those who have extremely high blood pressure readings, celery can be helpful. Celery is an excellent diuretic that can improve the effectiveness of high blood pressure medication, meaning that the dosage of medication may be reduced.

Natural Hypertension Remedy- 8 Tips To Naturally Lower High Blood Pressure

Why should you be concerned about your hypertension (also called high blood pressure) problem? Read these alarming facts about the ‘silent killer’ of hypertension?

About 73 million people in the U.S. have high blood pressure. That means about one and three adults have this deadly disease. And 1 in 4 are not aware of it.

High Blood Pressure was listed as a primary or contributing cause of death in about 300,000 deaths in the U.S. last year alone.

If this disease runs in your family or you have been diagnosed with this disease, you have done the right thing to educate yourself on how you can cure this disease naturally. Unfortunately, we live in a ‘McDonald’s’ era where we want it now and we want it fast. Therefore, we have medications that can slow our heart to ease pressure or widen our arteries to alleviate the pressure on our heart. But all these medications do is show us a better score with NEVER curing the problem of hypertension.

Learn about a natural hypertension remedy that works to completely cure this deadly disease with simple health tips. And be part of the millions who are prioritizing their health, shedding pounds and curing hypertension naturally with NO medications.

8 Tips to Naturally Lower High Blood Pressure

1.B.M.I. Body Mass Index is a great place to start. I always tell my customers to start with finding out your B.M.I. This neat tool (Google B.M.I.) will help you realize how much you should weigh for your body type. I get e-mails everyday telling me how our natural hypertension remedy has helped people shed up to 80 pounds and helped them get to their healthy ‘normal’ weight. And most importantly, cure hypertension.

2.Cardio Exercise- Do you know what you should be doing when you exercise. Most people don’t have a clue. Our company’s natural health doctor would recommend starting with cardio exercises to get your heart stronger and speed up your metabolism (weight shedder). Some simple cardio exercises you should try our walking, stair stepping, biking, elliptical machines and swimming.

3.What about fats! Some fats are good and some are horrible for you. Do you know what fats you should be eating? Stay away form saturated fats and Trans fats (look at the labels). Polyunsaturated fats are healthy fats which are in fish, nuts and soybeans. Our report gives a detailed list of foods to eat and stay away from.

4.Smoking! I don’t want to tell you how to live but do this one for your family! Quit smoking! Smoking puts plaque on your artery walls which contributes to hypertension problems. Not to mention it causes cancer and eventually death.

5.Alcohol! You should moderate your alcohol consumption to one glass per day. And if you are wondering about wine, read the next one!

6.Wine! Drink 3-4 glasses of wine per week. Research from all around the world has shown that wine lowers high blood pressure. And besides, you might actually enjoy the taste after the second bottle.

7.Garlic! You can either buy a supplement or go to the grocery store and get the real thing. This herbal remedy has been proven to lower high blood pressure. If you take the supplement, I suggest to never exceed the recommended daily dose.

8.Vitamins! What vitamins should you be taking if you suffer from hypertension? Our natural health doctor recommends taking at least 5 key vitamins that are often neglected in most people’s diets. Or you can always go for the poor man’s vitamin- a simple multi-vitamin.

Controlling your blood pressure is just one of many things you can do to prevent stroke. Many people assume that strokes can’t be prevented. Controlling High Blood Pressure also requires you to make changes to your lifestyle, through proper diet and exercise. To assist you, there are various herbal remedies available that are reported to help lower HBP.

Medicine can be a great high blood pressure treatment. Ask your doctor if any medications might be right for you. Medicines will control your blood pressure, but they cannot cure it. You will need to take blood pressure medicine for a long time.

Drugs that help lower high blood pressure have various side effects. If you experience severe side effects from any drug, contact your doctor immediately. Drugs that lower blood pressure include diuretics, beta blockers and calcium channel blockers.

Salt substitutes usually contain potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride as found in salt. The salt substitute makes you produce saliva much in the same way salt does. Salt and sugar intake must be dramatically curtailed with an increase in fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy protects, fiber and protein from meat, fish and poultry. Losing weight will result in lower blood pressure.

Vasodilators open blood vessels by relaxing the muscle in the vessel walls. Calcium channel blockers (CCBs) prevent calcium from getting into the muscle cells of the heart and blood vessels, relaxing the blood vessels. Vasodilators are not commonly used alone to treat ongoing high blood pressure because of the significant drop in blood pressure that they cause, which may lead to heart palpitations or rapid heartbeat. They may be used if a person is in a hypertensive crisis or when other classes of medicine are not effective in controlling high blood pressure.

Potassium pills may need to be taken with some diuretics. A diet high in potassium also may be needed. Potassium levels and kidney function are watched closely as the dose increases.

Tekturna works by reducing the ability of renin to begin this process. Doctors say Tekturna is unique because it acts earlier in your body’s blood pressure process than other medications. Tekturna is known as a renin inhibitor. Renin is an enzyme produced by your kidneys that starts a cascade of chemical steps that increases blood pressure.

Calcium Channel Blockers reduce the overall level of calcium in the heart, reducing blood pressure. Alpha Blockers lower blood pressure by limiting the nerve impulses sent to the blood vessels, while Alpha-Beta Blockers combine the effects of Alpha-Blockers and Beta-Blockers. Calcium channel blockers keep calcium from entering the muscle cells of the heart and blood vessels. This reduces the heart rate and causes the blood vessels to relax. Calcium, magnesium, potassium, and CoQ10 deficiencies are directly linked to high blood pressure. Therefore reducing their amounts in the body can make it more difficult for your doctor to normalize your blood pressure.

Beta-blockers are also one of the types of drugs used to lower blood pressure. Although migraines are not considered to be high blood pressure headaches, high blood pressure medication does seem to help. Beta blockers will lower blood pressure by regulating the heart rate. Other effective drugs for lowering your pressure are vasodilators, ace inhibitors and calcium channel blockers. Beta blockers are one group. They slow the heart down.

Alternative medicine is relatively inexpensive while medications can easily cost a small fortune. Furthermore, medications usually have side effects, which may be difficult for some people to handle. Alternative therapies can help to cure the problem of high blood pressure without taking recourse to conventional drugs that often have serious side effects. The focus of alternative treatments is to treat the very source of the disease.

Talk to your doctor about adjusting your medication and making lifestyle changes that will lower your blood pressure to under 140/90.

High Blood Pressure Medication Related Guide

If you are looking for information about high blood pressure medication, you will find the below related article very helpful. It provides a refreshing perspective that is much related to high blood pressure medication and in some manner related to lifesource blood pressure monitors, audio device not found, blood pressure measurement device or best blood pressure monitors. It isn’t the same old kind of information that you will find elsewhere on the Internet relating to high blood pressure medication.

Raising your premature baby’s blood pressure can be as simple as giving your baby extra fluid by IV, but sometimes it takes a bit more. Medications called pressors can increase your premature baby’s blood pressure. If the cause for low blood pressure is blood loss, then a blood transfusion will be performed with donor blood from a blood bank.

The normal blood pressure of a healthy young adult is about 110/75 (below 120 mm Hg systolic and 80 mm Hg diastolic). As one gets older, the normal blood pressure usually gets higher- a 60-year old usually has a blood pressure of 130/90.

Coronary heart disease, leading to heart attack and stroke, is the main harm that can be caused by High Blood Pressure. Hence, we can realize the fact that High Blood Pressure can easily play with the lives of man.

Unlike many people out there, don’t forget that even if this article related to high blood pressure medication doesn’t cover all the basics you wanted, you can always take a look at any of the search engines like Google dot com or Search.Yahoo dot com for more high blood pressure medication related information.

Low blood pressure, the medical term hypotension is generally defined as that which is below normal and relative to the individual with things taken into account such as age and activity levels.

Who uses a blood pressure cuff on you? Usually it is a doctor or a nurse that takes your blood pressure and uses the cuff. However, your blood pressure can also be taken electronically by a machine. The nurse would strap the cuff around your arm and the machine would proceed to take your blood pressure.

Different blood pressure monitors provide different readings. The most common blood pressure monitor uses a column of mercury to gauge the blood pressure with a hand pump attached to the arm of the patient. When you pump this, the blood pressure monitor tightens on your arm. Readings taken by this device are usually accurate. However, a disadvantage with this type of mercury-based blood pressure monitor is that accidental spilling of mercury can cause various allergic reactions and illness.

How Safe Is Your Blood Pressure Medication?

Sometimes, you can treat high blood pressure with a simple change of diet, exercise and lifestyle. Other cases are not so simple to resolve, and the doctor may prescribe a high blood pressure medication. The particular medication will depend on other key factors, such as the severity of your high blood pressure condition. It would also depend on any other existing medical conditions.

Know Your Medications

There are many aspects of blood pressure medications to consider for treating the condition. While your doctor is the one who will decide the treatment, you should have some knowledge about the various medications. For example, how they react or interact with other conditions or medications. Visiting the local pharmacy can help answer questions or concerns before approaching your doctor, but information is the key.

While most people treated for blood pressure don’t need other medications for another medical condition, some do. When taking more than one blood pressure medication, it’s important to make sure those medications would not conflict with one another other. Also, let your doctor know what other medications you are taking before he prescribes a particular one for you.

Other Health Problems

If you have high blood pressure and have no other ailments, the doctor will more than likely prescribe a blood pressure medication such as thiazide-type diuretics. This medication suits those without other medical problems. Thiazide-type diuretics have been proven to not only lower blood pressure, but also to prevent heart attacks and strokes. They are less expensive than other high blood pressure drugs. And these diuretics are the most common of first drugs prescribed to treat high blood pressure. You only need to take most of these medications once a day.

Other blood pressure medication such as a beta-blocker can reduce risk of strokes or heart attacks. They help protect hearts weakened by coronary artery disease. Similarly, enzyme inhibitors help to protect the kidneys for those suffering from diabetes and kidney insufficiency as well. Enzyme inhibitors also protect the heart after a major heart attack or if you have congestive heart failure.

Calcium channel blockers help people suffering from angina. Similarly, alpha-blockers improve blood levels of certain fats. For those suffering from other medical conditions, such as diabetes or congestive heart failure or angina, the doctor will most likely prescribe a beta-blocker. Doctors will also consider the age of the patient. Often, medications in seniors react differently than in younger and more healthy patients.

What are the side effects?

As with any blood pressure medication, side effects can occur. They include, but are not limited to, increased need to urinate, difficulty sleeping and dizziness. Other side effects can be some sexual dysfunction in men, nasal stuffiness or headaches.

Many people use blood pressure medication and never experience these side effects, so don’t let the fear of them stop you from taking the medication. Work with your doctor to find the right medication with the least amount of side effects for your specific condition. No matter which blood pressure medication the doctor prescribes, it is important to follow instructions to the letter.

Reduce High Blood Pressure – No Need for Medication

Are you worried about taking prescriptions to control your blood pressure? If so, it is possible that you can fully avoid the possible side effects associated with many of the medications often prescribed to reduce high blood pressure. Here are a few methods you might want to consider before you fill that prescription.

The most important thing for you to do to reduce high blood pressure is to leave sodium out of your diet. You probably already know this, but do you know why? Sodium makes the body hold on to the fluids, such as water. This excess fluid being stored in your body causes the heart to work harder to pump the blood to your organs.

Look at the labels when you go to the grocery store. Try to avoid low salt and low sodium products. Instead look for the substitutes for salt. You will be surprised when you realize what is out there that can really add new flavor to your foods.

Caffeine is also a culprit in raising blood pressure levels. If you must have that morning cup of coffee, you should switch to decaffeinated coffee. If you notice you begin to have headaches when you switch to decaf coffee you should switch to lite coffee. This has caffeine in it, but in a smaller amount. Slowly and gradually reduce the caffeine in your coffee until you are drinking only decaf.

If you are overweight, you already know that it is important for your overall health to begin shedding the pounds. However, it is vital that you lose the weight to reduce the strain on your heart. As the weight begins to come off your blood pressure should begin to reduce itself.

Exercise regularly and gradually increase the intensity of your workout. Make sure your doctor approves of the exercise regimen you will be doing. Take it slow at first. Do not over do yourself. If you do, it is likely that you will be sore and reluctant to continue exercising.

Stop smoking and drinking. These have very ill effects on the body and even worse effects on the heart and blood pressure. If you need assistance quitting smoking or drinking speak with your doctor for some assistance.

It is likely that you can naturally reduce high blood pressure by taking advantage of the tips given to you here. However, before you begin listening to the advice of anyone, you should discuss your thoughts with your doctor. He or she will be able to best direct you in reducing your blood pressure without the need for medications.

Taking The Best High Blood Pressure Medication

It is hard to imagine how a person with high blood pressure would survive without taking a blood pressure medication. The unfortunate truth is that high blood pressure is a silent killer that does not warn you that it is going to strike and even a person that is otherwise in great health can all of a sudden come down with this dreaded condition. This is especially worrying because high blood pressure is now a disease that affects even young people and is not just an old people’s disease.

Effective for Your Symptoms

There is a slew of high blood pressure medicines out there that you will need to choose from though which the best high blood pressure medication for you will depend on the effectiveness of a medication for your particular symptoms.

There are also different kinds of blood pressure medications and so the answer to which the best high blood pressure medication is will depend on what your particular needs are and how a particular medication is able to control your hypertension symptoms.

Some people consider calcium channel blockers to be the best high blood pressure medication because these medications do not allow calcium to get into your cells and are especially beneficial when used by people that tend to suffer from unwanted build-up of calcium.

Alpha-blockers are considered the best high blood pressure medications whenever a person does not benefit from using calcium blockers. This high blood pressure medications work by helping to relax the blood vessels which then allows blood to pass through the vessels in an easier and uncomplicated manner and so helps to lower blood pressure.

The bottom line is of course that it is only your doctor who will be able to identify the best high blood pressure medication which of course will be different in different cases. However, once the best high blood pressure medication has been identified it is up to the patient to follow the dosage instructions unfailingly to ensure that the desired benefits accrue. Even a single missed dosage can adversely affect your blood pressure condition and this in turn can render even the best high blood pressure medication virtually ineffective.

The good news for people that plan on buying generic high blood pressure medications is that these are generally safe and very cost beneficial and will do a lot to help bring down high blood pressure. Most of the main ingredients in such generic medications will be similar to those that are found in some of the better known branded medications.

Diet to Reduce High Blood Pressure- a Natural Hypertension Treatment With No Medication

Can a diet to reduce high blood pressure really cure hypertension with no medication? Yes and most people are unaware that their diet has an enormous impact on their high blood pressure points. In fact, you can naturally cure high blood pressure naturally with changing your diet, taking the correct vitamins, supplements, and minerals, and learning various exercises (including breathing techniques you can do anywhere).

Unfortunately, to the patient’s demise, doctors always recommend a variety of medications to reduce high blood pressure. Whether the medication is synthetically widening the arteries or slowing the heart rate, medications are only hiding the true problem of high blood pressure… build up in your arteries!

Choosing to a Natural Cure

The biggest mistake you can make is to naively take high blood medication the rest of your life. Millions do and the side-effects can be annoying after the first few months, not to mention the next 20+ years.

Though natural health, also called holistic treatments, have had their fair share of skeptics. It might be surprising that research in the last 10 years has actually proved some of the oldest remedies.

For instance, one of the most important nutrients for your body when it comes to treating high blood pressure is potassium. However, diuretics (a high blood pressure medication) can flush potassium as well as sodium from the body. Researchers at Duke University found that getting more potassium could lower blood pressure by as many as 20 points for people most at risk for high blood pressure.

A Diet to Reduce High Blood Pressure

Here are 10 simple dieting tips to lower your score in weeks!

1. High Fiber Breakfast- Eat cereals with at least 5 grams of fiber. A good fiber cereal will also make a great snack during the day. Purchase some baggies to make it more convenient.

2. Beans- Beans are an excellent source of both fiber and protein. You can purchase them raw or canned. Try adding beans to soups and salads.

3. Fruits and Vegetables- These are loaded with water-soluble fiber which will naturally flush cholesterol, toxins and even plaque. Brightly colored fruits and veggies contain phytochemicals which are also extremely beneficial.

4. Nuts- Nuts contain monounsaturated fats. Eat them instead of chips and snack crackers that contain saturated and Trans fats.

5. Oils- Always use oils that come from plants. Olive, sunflower, and safflower oils are great instead of butter.

6. Fish- Fish usually contain omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids have been documented as the heart-healthy fatty acid. Salmon is always a good choice!

7. Whole Grain Breads- You should finally make the switch from white to wheat. It is always extremely important to eat whole-grain and fiber-rich bread products. Eat bread that contains at least 3 grams of dietary fiber per slice.

8. Meats- Choose leaner cuts for meats. It might be also a good idea to choose game meats such as elk, deer, bison or ostrich. Typically game meats are leaner which means less fat and less cholesterol.

9. Poultry- Poultry is always a good option for meat! However, you should always pass on the skin.

10. Dairy- Reduced and nonfat dairy products will reduce the cholesterol and plaque levels. If you are a milk drinker, you can shave a few points in weeks by switching to skim.

Normalize Your Blood Pressure in Days

Before you purchase those expensive prescriptions again, have you considered what 3 minerals have been shown to naturally normalize your blood pressure? Did you know that breathing exercises can increase oxygen levels and normalize your score?

Discover a Natural Hypertension Treatment that works in days and guarantees to normalize your score. If you are interested in a step by step natural remedy report, please visit us today. We also offer a free HBP quiz that could help you see why you might be more prone to hypertension

Blood Pressure Medications ? How to Choose Right Medication

Choosing blood pressure medications - This is the biggest dilemma one faces while going through high blood pressure disease. Most of the time your dilemma will be solved by your doctor, his expertise of disease and knowledge of your medical condition will decide what medication is suited best for your body. According to National High Blood Pressure Education Program has recommended established guidelines for high blood pressure. This is a coalition of doctors, professionals, and voluntary organizations and government.

The information about medication mentioned here may differ from what your doctor has advised you. This depend what level of high blood pressure you are having and in what medical condition you are in. There are people with other diseases apart from high blood pressure, in such cases it gets more complicated and this needs to be treated with combination multiple drugs.
Pre-Hypertension (120/80 – 139/89)

This is the stage when one starts developing high blood pressure. There are no major sign, which will tell you that you are having high blood pressure. If this remains undetected, this has chance of growing into high blood pressure. Undetected high blood pressure is dangerous situation and can lead to heart failure and kidney failure.

At this stage with changes in lifestyle focusing on eating and exercise can reduce high blood pressure. Ensure you are in touch with your doctor; proper diet plan and changes in lifestyle will help you in lowering high blood pressure.
Changes needed in your lifestyle are as follows:

1. Low intake of salt and sodium in your diet.
2. Stop smoking.
3. Eat lots of vegetables, fruits and low fat diary products.
4. Excess weight in your body does no good to you; it puts more pressure on heart to pump blood into vessels. Maintain healthy weight.
5. Daily exercise is needed for 30 minutes and more. In the beginning you can break this exercise into 2 or 3 parts spread across the day. There can be many ways you can do exercise, starting with simple brisk walk, dog walking, swimming, light exercise running etc. Please take doctor’s advice before doing any active exercise.
6. Stop alcohol drinks, no good to your health.

In case you have other diseases along with prehypertension, you might need medication; your doctor will be in better position to advise you about medication.
High blood pressure (140/90 to 159/99)

Stage 1 of diseases

Once your blood pressure numbers are between 140/90 and 159/89 you have progressed from prehypertension to stage 1 high blood pressure. I both numbers (top – systolic and bottom – diastolic) are high or in this range leads to stage 1 of high blood pressure.

At this point your doctor may recommend you trying diuretics. The diuretics are also called water pills. The objective of diuretics is to flush excess water and sodium from the body. The lowering of excess water and sodium helps in lowering the blood pressure and with major changes in lifestyle will help in reducing blood pressure.

Doctor will recommend you medication and changes in lifestyle to control your blood pressure. Depending upon medical condition you might need only diuretic medication with changes in lifestyle to control your blood pressure.

Blood Pressure Drugs:

Calcium Channel Blockers – The goal of the drug is to prevent calcium going into heart and blood vessel, which causes cells to relax and lowers blood pressure.
Beta Blockers – This drug helps in reducing nerve signal to heart and blood vessel, which in turn helps in lowering blood pressure.
Angiotensin-converting enzyme - This drug helps blood vessel to relax and helps blood vessel not to narrow. This drug is also helpful in reducing blood pressure.

Your doctor may recommend you one of these medications to bring down blood pressure. There can be other complications such as one suffering from diabetes etc. In such situation a combination of drug is needed to reduce blood pressure.

High blood pressure (160/100 to Above)

Stage 2 of diseases

Now if your blood pressure numbers are falling in the range of 160/100 and above, this is alarming situation. You now are in stage 2 category. At this point your doctor will prescribe you couple of medications to quickly reduce high blood pressure. Even in this case your doctor will start medication with diuretics to flush out excess water and sodium from the body. Keeping your high blood pressure number in view, your doctor will prescribe you more medication to lower blood pressure.
Blood Pressure Drugs:

Beta Blocker – This drug helps in reducing nerve signal to heart and blood vessel, lowering stress on heart helps lowering blood pressure.
ACE inhibitor - This drug helps blood vessel from getting narrow, which lowers pressure on heart and lowers blood pressure.
Calcium Channel Blocker – The drug prevents calcium going into heart and blood vessel. This helps cells to relax and which in turn lowers blood pressure.
Angiotensin II receptor blocker – This medication helps in widening blood vessel and stops hormone called angiotensin from affecting blood vessels.

At such higher elevation blood pressure can cause kidney failure and heart stroke problems. In stage 2 hypertension, aggressive treatment and strong discipline for lifestyle in needed to lower blood pressure.

Take control of your medical situation by consulting doctor in early stages and bringing changes in your lifestyle. The medication and changes in lifestyle go hand in hand; strong discipline will surely lower blood pressure. Lastly monitor your blood pressure, at least 2-3 times a day. Do not depend entirely on this blood monitoring equipment and at no point discard visit to Doctor. Your doctor is best to judge your medical situation. The statistics have shown that a combination of good drugs and changes in lifestyle have helped patient to lower blood pressure.

Generic High Blood Pressure Medication: A Safety Standard For High Blood Pressure Medication

Generic high blood pressure medications are quite safe to use and will also provide cost beneficial solutions that help to effectively control high blood pressure conditions. These generic high blood pressure medications are also known to contain the same active substances as the better known brand name high blood pressure medications contain.

In fact, the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration) also keeps a strict vigil on the sale of generic high blood pressure medications in the market which is heartening to note as you can now buy generic high blood pressure medications with greater confidence that they will prove effective and also will not cause too many ill effects.

Equivalent To Brand Name Medications

The definition of generic high blood pressure medications is that these medications are different versions of the better known high blood pressure medications and are mostly not patented though the substances contained in the generic high blood pressure medication is virtually the same as its brand name medication equivalent. Most people obviously purchase a generic high blood pressure medication because it is cheaper.

Sometimes, some of the better known brand name high blood pressure medication manufacturing companies will discontinue marketing their products after the patent for such medications have expired and this is when a company those manufacturers’ generic high blood pressure medications can step in and begin marketing a similar version of the brand name.

There is much to be said in favor of buying generic high blood pressure medications because these are as potent as their famous brand name equivalents and furthermore the generic versions are also safe to use since they contain the same quantities of active substances as is contained in the brand name medication. Furthermore, the generic versions are also tested and must pass safety standards before they can be sold on the market.

Only in a few instances will taking of generic high blood pressure medications lead to experiencing side effects and many of these side effects are only temporary as well as mild and are generally caused on account of the non-active substances contained in the generic medication. The best means of getting around these side effects is to simply switch to another generic high blood pressure medication.

Another way of getting around the problem of dealing with side effects of high blood pressure medications is trying natural high blood pressure medications. As a matter of fact, using prescription medications for your high blood pressure does not always ensure that the problem will be cured completely though the same is not true if you try out a natural alternative high blood pressure medication.

High Blood Pressure Medication and Cancer – Discover the Facts About This Scare

High blood pressure medication and cancer – are they connected? Much has been made of this in the news recently. In this article, I’ll tell you about the facts of this case.

ARBs

The controversy has revolved around a class of drugs known as ARBs. ARBs is short for angiotensin receptor blockers or angiotensin II receptor antagonists.

They block the effects of a natural hormone known as angiotensin II which is linked to high b.p. Note that these are different to classical ACE inhibitor drugs that are also used against high blood pressure. ACE inhibitors don’t block the effects of this hormone but they prevent it from being created.

Regardless, the net effect is the same. They prevent your blood vessels from narrowing which directly lower your b.p. They also cause you to release more water and, with it, sodium. Because sodium contributes to high b.p. then this means that ARBs will lower it.

ARBs And Cancer

The talk of these drugs causing cancer is due to a single study that came out in 2010. The study analysed the results of seven controlled trials and concluded that: “this meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials suggests that ARBs are associated with a modestly increased risk of new cancer diagnosis. Given the limited data, it is not possible to draw conclusions about the exact risk of cancer associated with each particular drug. These findings warrant further investigation.”

Blood Pressure Drugs And Alternatives

All drugs, especially those for high b.p., are riddled with side effects. Luckily, there are many medically recognised natural methods to defeat hypertension such as diet, exercise and either avoiding stress or, even better, learning how not to stop yourself from having the stress response.

High Blood Pressure Medication – You Do Have Choices

High blood pressure medication can be a confusing topic and that’s unfortunate because it has such a huge impact on the quality of your life if you suffer from high blood pressure or hypertension. Controlling high blood pressure without medication is obviously the best of all possible worlds, but in some circumstances that’s just not possible.

There are a variety of blood pressure medications that your doctor has available to him to prescribe. These run from diuretics to exceptionally potent alpha blockers or vasodilators which come with potentially severe side effects. The type, strength and number of medications recommended for your condition will depend on just how elevated your pressure is.

If you are pre-hypertensive, which means your systolic pressure is between 120 and 139 and your diastolic blood pressure is between 80 and 89, your doctor will probably advise you to make changes in your lifestyle like changing to a healthier diet, getting exercise and cutting down on alcohol intake. This natural medication for high blood pressure is often times all you will need to get your pressure back to normal.

If you have stage 1 high blood pressure, 140/90 to 159/99, then your doctor will most likely prescribe a drug and that typically will be a thiazide diuretic. The diuretic will flush excess water and sodium from your system allowing for your blood pressure to go down. In addition, the thiazide diuretic provides some protection from heart attack and stroke. If you are at this stage, it becomes very important that you follow the lifestyle changes necessary to lower your blood pressure.

Failing to do this will lessen the effect of the diuretic and will result in a need for a second, more powerful drug. When you start getting into these drugs you start risking some nasty side effects and your meds will suddenly have an impact on your quality of life. Here is a partial list that might be added to the diuretic:

ACE Inhibitors. These drugs block the production of a hormone that causes the blood vessels to constrict allowing them to relax. Less constriction equals lower blood pressure. ACE Inhibitors include the drugs Capoten, Prinivil and Altace. Angiotensin II receptor blockers. These drugs block the hormone angiotensin which allows the blood vessels to widen in response to pressure on the walls. Commonly prescribed medication in this class includes Cozaar, Benicar and Diovan. Beta Blockers. These drugs interrupt nerve signals to the heart causing it to slow down and thereby reduce the pressure in the blood vessels. Lopressor, Corgard and Levatol are often prescribed. Calcium Channel Blockers. This class prevents calcium from entering the heart and blood vessel cells thereby relaxing them. The big problem with this class is that it can work to well and cause your heart to relax to the point it stops beating. Common calcium channel blockers include Norvasc, Cardizem and Procardia.

Is it becoming painfully obvious that you want to avoid needing these medications?

However, if you have stage 2 hypertension, you probably won’t have any choice but to take one or more of these drugs as it is essential that you get your pressure lowered as quickly as possible. Stage 2 hypertension is a blood pressure reading greater than 160/100.

Combining drugs is quite common. Often times this will mean you can take a lower dose of each which is good for your body, and it could prove less expensive as well. If your doctor has prescribed a combination, do not settle for anything less than a mix that allows you to control the pressure with minimal side effects.

Of course the way to avoid all this is simply to focus on a natural cure which does not use drugs but relies on changes in diet, exercise and stress management. Focusing on those three areas effectively can reduce your pressure reading by 20 points inside three weeks.

Understand, taking a pill doesn’t require much discipline, changing the way you eat and live does. Which one makes more sense to you in the long run?

Do you know the absolute fastest way to lower blood pressure without using high blood pressure medication? Would you like a prescription that only has positive side effects? You can find the answers to these questions by visiting http://MyNaturalCures.info right now!

Blood pressure medication combinations, new studies show, work better for certain populations – and raise the possibility that measuring blood levels of the hormone renin might help optimize people’s care. Taking a drug that’s a bad match to renin level may trigger a jump in blood pressure. “The idea that one size fits all doesn’t make a lot of sense,” says Dr. Michael Alderman of New York’s …
