The Truth About High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure or hypertension is a condition that sneaks up on people slowly, so slowly that many people have it, and don’t even know it. In fact, one in every three Americans develops the condition. Most people think only older people suffer with hypertension, but the disease strikes many younger people every day.

High blood pressure is no longer something that you get when you are fifty and working a high-profile job. Teenagers get it, and even younger children. Today, the prevalence of high fat, high sugar diets do not help, and the rising rate of obesity is one of the major reasons more people suffer with the condition today. While the disease may last a lifetime, it is possible to treat and control it, sometimes with a mere change in diet and exercise, though for others, treatment comes in the form of medication.

Everyone has a blood pressure, as it is vital to life. The heart pumps blood through its chambers, and from there throughout the body’s arterial system. That oxygen rich blood is distributed throughout body organs, tissues and cells and then, once deoxygenated, returns through the veins back to the heart for a fresh dose of oxygen. The heart of a normal person beats around 80 to 120 times each minute. Those who are in excellent physical health and teenagers may have lower pressures. Anything within about 110 to 120 is great. You normally measure blood pressure in two parts. The first number in a blood pressure reading is the pressure exerted by the heart when it performs the pumping action. The second number is measures the heart at rest, between beats. So, a normal blood pressure reading could be 120/80, for example.

Medical experts consider someone who is at risk of high blood pressure “prehypertensive”, if the blood pressure reading is within 120-139 beats each minute, systolic pressure, which again, comes from the first measurement. Similarly, the bottom pressure, the diastolic measurement, may be anywhere between 80 to 90.

There are two different stages of high blood pressure. Stage One occurs when the blood pressure reading of any given individual is between 140-158 for a systolic reading. The bottom pressure measurement, the diastolic reading, can range from around 90-98. These numbers are not definite. You need to consider other things when getting a blood pressure reading. Is the person overweight, on medications or just finished exercising? While these figures may sound alarming, proper diet and exercise, combined with medications, may be enough to get blood pressure back under control.

Stage Two high blood pressure occurs when the systolic pressure ranges over 160, while the bottom pressure reads over 100. It is a good idea to get blood pressure checked at least once a
year, and if it is borderline, talk to your doctor about treatment choices. Don’t mess around with your heart. It is the only one you will have in your lifetime, unless you need a transplant. You and your doctor can treat high blood pressure.

How Ace Inhibitors Work to Lower Blood Pressure

Blood pressure medications come in different forms and each is intended to cause a different reaction in the blood or blood vessels. An ace inhibitor is one such medication used in the treatment of hypertension.

Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitors prevent the manufacture of a hormone in the body called angiotensin II. Angiotensin II makes blood vessels narrower. When the hormone production is blocked, the arteries remain wider and allow blood to flow through with less pressure on the vessels, thereby lowering blood pressure.

Brand Names for Ace Inhibitors

Benazepril, Enalapril and Lisinopril are three ACE inhibitors commonly used in the treatment of high blood pressure. They are seldom the first course of action but are used to treat the more severe cases of hypertension. Ideally, maintaining a proper weight and eating right are the best ways to control blood pressure. After that a diuretic type of medication may be prescribed, which works based on the idea of flushing the arteries so pressure is reduced.

The brand names under which the common ACE inhibitors used to treat high blood pressure are sold are Lotensin (benazepril), Vasotec (enalapril) and Prinivil and Zestril (lisinopril). All of these work to increase blood flow by keeping the arteries open and wide.

ACE inhibitors have side effects just like any other drugs. It can feel as if you have a bad cold because many of the symptoms that are possible are a cough, sore throat, fever, and mouth sores. Other symptoms include an itchy, red skin rash, swelling of the neck, face or tongue, or a salty or metallic taste in your mouth. While all of these are not extremely common, they have been reported in enough cases to be listed as possible side effects to taking ACE inhibitors.
One side effect is raised potassium levels. Some medications, such as diuretics, actually reduce potassium and that has some health risks with it as well. The opposite is true of ACE inhibitors. Because they can raise potassium levels it is important to have yours monitored if you are taking any of these prescriptions. Symptoms of too much potassium in the blood stream include nervousness, a numbness or tingling feeling in the hands or feet, and even confusion. There can also be difficulty breathing. Permanent Solution to High Blood Pressure Here!

It is important to watch what you eat and what you do while taking ACE inhibitors. Some foods which contain potassium, such as salt substitutes can cause you to have dangerously high levels of potassium. Also, taking anti-inflammatory drugs such as Advil, Motrin, Aleve or aspirin can negate the effects of your ACE inhibitor drug.

The challenge in controlling blood pressure with medicine is two-fold. Medical professionals will try the least invasive type of drug, meaning one with the least chance of side effects and that requires the lowest dose possible to manage your blood pressure. This means that a patient can often go through years of trial and error type of drug experimentation before finding something that works. Meanwhile, blood pressure can be going untreated.

Secondly, medications to treat blood pressure have side effects – all of them to some degree. You may find that using them requires you to take other medications to treat the symptoms of the side effects.

As with any disease or condition, a natural approach can be just as effective, without the risk of side effects. A doctor can help you determine if you need to lose weight or make other changes to control your blood pressure.

Weightlifting And High Blood Pressure – What's The Connection?

A few years ago people who were having tablets meant for blood pressure were coun seled not to lift weights because of the potential for temporary rises in their blood pressure. Now this advice has been altered as the enhancement in health of long term physical exertion have become redefined. Presently, weightlifting is no longer condemned for people with blood pressure troubles.

Lifting weights can produce a momentary boost in blood pressure. This increase can be notable – based on the weights you lift. However weightlifting can additionally have long term benefits for blood pressure that exceed the hazard of a occasional rise in BP levels.

Despite the fact that blood pressure will go up during weightlifting, this increase is only transient. A report showed that during weightlifting there is considerable unstable use of the cells that coat the major heart vessels, but despite that this change takes place only in people who suffer poor fitness levels. It seems that often exercising with weights and workouts offsets this side effect and results in improved condition of heart and vessels. Reports have proved that people who train with weights often have lower likelihood of heart problems.
Regular workouts, including moderate weight training, results in numerous fitness benefits, including helping to lower BP over time.

For those who have high BP, ask your health practitioner before having some exercise course. Your health practitioner can help you create an exercise routine tailored to your needs and medical conditions.

When you have high BP here are certain ways for getting started on a programme for lifting weight:

1. Discover and practice correct form while pumping iron to reduce the possibility of accidents.

2. Resist holding your breath. Holding your breath all through physical exertion can result in unsafe spikes in hypertension. Try to breathe normally and continuously every time you push. When weight training, blow out through your mouth as you are performing the work.

3.Heavier weights require more physical effort, which can result in a spike in hypertension. You can train your muscle tissue with lesser weights through increasing the quantity of motions.

4.If you are using hypertension medicine, it’s important to ensure your hypertensive state is controlled before initiating a pumping iron regime.

5.Continue to track your BP carefully of the course of the first spell of your weightlifting curriculum and allow your health care advisor be acquainted if you experience fluctuations in your blood pressure.

6.Listen to your body. Cease your movement abruptly if you become out of breath or dizzy or if you encounter chest aches or pressure.

So in the end we will say that a regime of both aerobic exercise and moderate can be helpful even though you are taking hypertension pills – provided you OK it with your GP first.

signs and Symptoms of HBP – Know the Signs When High Blood Pressure Begins

Every year millions are downed by this mysterious syndrome. All over the world perhaps the family members, friends or even colleagues of a high blood pressure victim can testify that their loved one is healthy and has no visible symptoms of the disease, yet die because of it. In America alone, there were as many as one in every three Americans has this malady already. Except for those who have their blood pressure checked and knew that they by now have the syndrome, still more than half of those who were left doesn’t know that they were victims already.

Things to Know about HBP

There were a number of things that we need to know and consider when HBP is concerned. Here are some of the most universal facts regarding the silent killer:

A normal adult blood pressure will have a sphygmomanometer reading of 120/80mmHg. If in any circumstances that your blood pressure (BP) reading exceeds both the upper and the lower number or either, you are a candidate for hypertension.

HBP can be a result of many risk factors including poor lifestyle and unhealthy diet like smoking, too much lingering stress, excessive caffeine intake, above normal sodium or salt consumption, drugs overuse and even contraceptives.

If your family has a persistent history of hypertension, your chances of developing this malady is much greater compared to those people with no historical background of it.

Most of the cases have no recorded symptoms.

HBP will eventually go back to normal when all of the risk factors are inhibited from entering the body.

These factors and other significant things related to increasing the normal blood pressure should be put in mind to free our self from the most dreadful and mysterious condition.

What are HBP Symptoms?

Until now it is not clear what causes high blood pressure and even its origin is still vague. Except for some advanced stages or more severe HBP conditions, these symptoms could be more or less felt:

Headaches with no known origins.

Profuse sweating and sudden breath shortness.

Rapid or abnormal pulse.

Sudden vision blurredness or even vision loss.

Dizziness.

These symptoms can be felt only during advanced high blood pressure stages when your BP measurement reaches an abnormally high reading. Don’t wait for these symptoms to be felt, it could have been too late. Live a healthy life and be hypertension-free.

Cholesterol And The Role It Plays In Hypertension

High blood pressure is also called hypertension. It very quietly takes its revenge on people. Aging and the race don’t matter h ere. High blood pressure causes cardiac arrests and strokes. Here are the methods to put it off.

Coupling of Fatal Diseases High blood pressure and the bad cholesterol co exist in most of the patients. When they are tested for the levels of blood pressure they are also asked to test their levels of bad cholesterol. Many heart problems and strokes occur mainly due to the high levels of bad cholesterol.

The Definition of Cholesterol Cholesterol is basically classified into two. They are good and bad. The cholesterol levels rise up due to the fats that are produced by the liver or from the food that we take in. It is very vital in the growth of the human system.
The good cholesterol is very helpful in building up the human body. It just takes away all the bad fat away if it forms a residue in the arterial walls. This is taken to the liver again for a chemical process. The good cholesterol prevents the high blood pressure.

The origins of good cholesterol are the oils namely canola, olive and peanut butter. The tinned foods have a lot of chemical fats that are so much dangerous and this increases the level of bad cholesterol. Avoiding these will lead to a healthy way of living.

Oats, wheat, fresh plant food are the ones to reduce the elevated levels of blood pressure and cholesterol. Soluble fibers are present in these substances.

How About The Bad Cholesterol? The LDL is the bad cholesterol that can cause blocks in the walls of the arteries and this can cause pressure in the vessels of the brain. This will in turn lead to strokes. Heart attacks and the strokes can be a result of the rise.

Altering the way of living can improve the health of a person. Cigars, drinking and too much of eating can lead to this situation. When one does not do any physical activity, this can also cause cholesterol.

More than half of the American youths are affected by the bad cholesterol. This in turn increases the risk of cardiac arrests and strokes.

Avoid Low Blood Pressure with Natural Treatment

Low blood pressure is an abnormal condition where a person’s blood pressure (the pressure of the blood against the walls of the blood vessels during and after each beat of the heart) is much lower than usual, which can cause symptoms such as dizziness or lightheadedness.

Some of the main causes of low blood pressure are faulty nutrition or malnutrition, emotional instability, loss of blood and slow internal bleeding. Lethargy, weakness, fatigue and dizziness are the most common symptoms of low blood pressure.

Causes of Low Blood Pressure: –

a Faulty nutrition and malnutrition is the main cause.
a Side effects of certain medications such as diuretics, beta blockers and high blood pressure medication.
a Diet deficient in B Vitamins, Vitamin C and protein and calories cause malnutrition.
a Loss of blood, emotional problems, prolonged frustration and disappointments are other causes.
a Diabetes which can cause alterations in blood sugar levels.
a Hormone problems such as adrenal insufficiency or thyroid disease (overactive or underactive thyroid)
Symptoms of Low Blood Pressure: –

Excessive sweating or feeling constantly tired or depressed to the point where it starts to affect the quality of your life, can also be symptoms of low blood pressure, and should be a cause for concern. Low blood pressure may occasionally cause shortness of breath and a slight pain in the chest due to inadequate blood supply to the heart.

If blood pressure is too low, the brain is the first organ to be effected, and brain damage could occur. Other symptoms may occur, due to other body mechanisms trying to increase blood pressure that is low. For example, when the arteries restrict the blood flow to the feet and hands, these may turn cold and blue. Heart palpitations caused by the heart rapidly beating to increase blood pressure may also be a symptom. If your blood pressure gets too low, all organs may eventually begin to shut down and shock can occur.

Natural Home Remedies for Low Blood Pressure: -

a Drink more fluids during hot weather and while sick with a viral illness, such as a cold or the flu.
a Have your doctor evaluate your prescription and over-the-counter medications to identify any that may be causing your symptoms.
a Get regular exercise to promote blood flow.
a Foods rich in proteins, vitamin C and vitamin B are effective in treating low blood pressure.
a Sun and air bath, daily dry friction and sponge are advisable.
a Hot Epsom salt bath is the simplest remedy. Immerse in the bath for 10-20 minutes before going to bed.
a Wrong thinking, unnecessary worries and overwork should be avoided.

Self-help:- If you have postural hypotension, your GP may advise you to:

a stand up slowly, especially when you first wake up
a try not to stand still for a long time
a make sure your baths/showers are not too hot
a avoid strenuous physical activity
a wear compression stockings
a increase the salt in your diet and amount of fluids you drink – however, it is important to remember that too much salt in your diet can lead to high blood pressure, so you should follow your doctor’s advice.

Hypertension is a silent killer because it doesn’t present any symptom, you don’t feel it, but it have serious consequences that can kill you like heart attack, stroke and embolism.

Can I cure High Blood Pressure with medication?

No, pills can’t cure hypertension because they work against your body and have terrible side effects and pills can’t protect you against some high blood pressure consequences like heart attack.

2 – Exercise: We all hate exercises, including me, but even some simple walking routines can work wonders for you in a few weeks if you don’t give up.

If you start to do some exercises and begin a healthy diet there is no way to be beaten by Hypertension!

High Blood Pressure – 3 Natural Ways To Get Rid Of Hypertension And Improve Your Health Outlook

High blood pressure is called “the silent killer” by doctors. That’s because it indiscriminately kills millions every year who did not keep their b.p. under control. Many people think that drugs are the only answer but this is definitely not true. In this article, I will share with you three natural ways to lower your b.p.

Soy Milk

Soy milk is rich in magnesium. In fact, all soy products are rich in magnesium.

You may have heard about potassium and sodium being important for b.p. Well, magnesium is also. Generally, the more magnesium in your diet, the better your blood pressure will be. This is because mineral balance is very important for b.p.

Hence why soy milk is a great, natural way to lower your b.p..

Broccoli

Blood pressure is just one measure of the overall health of your entire cardiovascular system – basically wherever the blood gets pumped around.

All of us have some damage that has already been done to our arteries. Broccoli is thought to be able to reverse some of this damage done.

It is also thought to lower your b.p. directly too.

Papaya

In the East, it has long been known that the Papaya fruit is beneficial for your heart and circulatory health. Research shows that this plant can lower b.p. directly.

It is thought that this is due to a substance in Papaya called carpaine. Carpaine is an alkaloid and studies of rats have shown a decrease in b.p. with increasing dosage.

Hyper Tension, Stroke, Heart Attack, kidney Problems

Hyper Tension

One out of ten people now a days suffer hyper tension or High Blood Pressure. Blood pressure is a silent killer. If unchecked it will lead to heart attack, stroke and kidney failure.
Proven remedies: If a man starts taking pills for Hyper tension he has to continue till last. But herbal remedies will give permanent cure.

How to diagnise hyper tension?

Wrong diagnosis will certainly create unnecessary tension in the minds of patients that will in turn cause heart attack, so a physician should be very careful when he measures the patients’ Blood pressure.Normally three readings of Blood pressure are taken every two months once and average is calculated. If it exceeds the permissible level of 120 then the doctor can start treatment for hyper tension.

Measure your own way:

Patients can measure their own blood pressure themselves. Feel your pulse by puttting your left middle, index and ring fingers under your right wrist.Count the number of vibrations per thirtyseconds using a stop clock or table time piece. Calculate the number of vibrations,(heart beats) per minute. If it is close to 78 (plus or minus ) then it it normal. Other wise serious. Start treatment

Wheatgrass juice if taken in the morning in the empty stomach everyday will work wonders in reducing Hyper tension. Wheatgrass juice also produces fresh blood in our body. So it is good for anemics. It keeps us energetic all day long.

Wheatgrass juice is also good for allergies. Allergies caused by food can be cured by wheatgrass juice. Patients suffering blood cancer also can be cured if in the initial stages given wheat grass juice.

Another proven remedy for hypertension is garlic. Garlic juice will if taken in the empty stomach, will immediately reduce highblood pressure. It simply dissolves the unwanted fats. When these homely herbal medicines are handy for major health complications why should you resort to costly allopathic drugs which are maximum chemicals?

Meditation: The Best Remedy For High Blood Pressure

I had a routine physical examination recently and the doctor was impressed with my blood pressure. Why? Because it was not too high like it is in many of the other people she sees every day. When she learned that I was a vegetarian, she became interested, making a connection between vegetarianism and controlled blood pressure.

But the real secret for my good showing on the blood pressure examination has as much to do with meditation, as it does with my vegetarian diet. Meditation is the best remedy, the best “medicine” for high blood pressure and heart disease, and I haven’t missed a day in the last 37 years.

Why is meditation so effective against one of the biggest health problems of today? Meditation de-stresses a person. Stress is one of the biggest causes of hypertension, and it is a part of everyday life that everyone has to face.

Our ancestors, the proto-human beings who lived thousands of years ago, mainly had physical challenges to deal with. If they saw a large predator, then danger messages were sent to their brains, and then more messages went to the rest of their bodies. Their bodies were made ready to either fight or flee.

Scientists call this a “fight or flight” reflex. The heart starts beating faster, the blood pressure increases, hormones are secreted. It is a useful reaction when you have to deal with a saber-tooth tiger, but what about when you face your boss at work?

When we are upset by someone at work or in society, danger signals are also sent to our brain and our heart starts beating faster and our blood pressure rises. However, we don’t usually run away and we usually don’t start fighting physically. We hold it all in, perhaps showing a smile on the outside. If this is kept up all day, the stress builds and if it continues over a long time it can damage our heart.

If you were to withdraw yourself completely from society you might be able to escape the stress, but this is not an option for most of us. However, it is possible to “withdraw” yourself two times a day and sit in meditation.

In fact, one of the important aspects of meditation is that it is a form of sense withdrawal. You sit quietly and follow instructions that will help you to forget the world around you and focus on an inner peace that is inside of you. When you become adept at this technique it relieves stress and is just as effective as going away to the top of a forested mountain or sitting alone on a sandy beach.

Meditation also helps you to slow down your breathing. Our mind is directly related to our breathing. When we are agitated or in distress we will take short quick breaths. When we are relaxed or concentrated then our breathing slows down and becomes deeper as well. Proper meditation helps to calm the mind and slow down the breathing. This combination of sense withdrawal and slow, deep breathing works wonders. Try and it one day you too will impress your physician with a healthy blood pressure reading.

Forget Prescription Drugs! A Natural Cure For High Blood Pressure

True or False? You need prescription medication to lower high blood pressure? False!

However, most people believe you need to take common high blood pressure (hypertension) prescriptions to combat your high blood pressure. Unfortunately, high blood pressure sufferers pay millions of dollars each day to take medications with harsh side effects. Some of these hypertension drugs include: Diuretics, Beta Blockers, ACE Inhibitors, Alpha Blockers and Vasodilators. Side effects could include: kill nutrients in body, risk of asthma symptoms, speed heart rate, depletion of taste, rashes, cold symptoms, kidney problems, headaches, nausea, weight gain, and growth of hair. Who wants to deal with these? Besides, I thought this was suppose to help people who suffer from high blood pressure. Does this sound better?

All doctors agree that treating high blood pressure naturally is also a way to improve your health and lower your blood pressure. In fact, thousands of people each day lower points on their blood pressure with natural (non-pharmaceutical) foods, vitamins and supplements. Here’s what one of our reader’s said,

“I found your information on prevention and control of Blood Pressure to be extraordinary as a lay primer for people of all ages. It is quite comprehensive and thorough, addressing completely not only the known medical facts concerning high blood pressure but also alternative means of prevention and control.”

True or False? All I need to do is lose weight to control my high blood pressure? False!

However, most people believe if they control their weight; they control their blood pressure. Here are some other significant causes of high blood pressure:

Heredity: Do any family members suffer from hypertension? If so, you are at risk.

Race: African Americans are most at risk. However, all ethnicities are on a rise.

Gender: Men are more likely than women to have high blood pressure.

Age: As we become older, it is more difficult to control your blood pressure.

Salt Intake: Sodium intake has been linked with high blood pressure sufferers.

Smoking: Smokers will often times be more at risk for hypertension.

A Sedentary Lifestyle: If you are required to sit a lot at your profession… your risk rises.

Pregnancy, Diabetes and Alcoholism can also contribute to hypertension.

True or False? I can start to naturally cure my high blood pressure today? TRUE!

However, many people think you need to wait till your next doctor visit and tests before you start taking your high blood pressure serious. Life is too precious and unpredictable to wait when you are dealing with a disease that kills almost 60,000 Americans each year.

Start naturally treating your High Blood Pressure Today with these twelve tips!

1. Exercise for 30 minutes at least 4 times a week! Exercise equals a strong, efficient heart.

2. Loss that extra 15! This appears impossible… however, you would be surprised what will happen if you eat smaller portions and keep exercising!

3. Pass on the salt! Sodium reduction is a key to your high blood pressure treatment!

4. Grains are great, fruits are fabulous, and vegetables are vivacious!

5. Reduce your intake of alcohol.

6. Pack the potassium. Potassium is essential for lowering your blood pressure. Eat bananas, citrus fruits, low-fat milk and some vegetables.

7. More Magnesium! Potassium and magnesium usually go hand-in-hand for lowering blood pressure. Eat whole grains, dark green leafy vegetables and most nuts.

8. Calcium is King! This mineral will be a god-send to hypertension sufferers. Consider low-fat dairy products and calcium supplements.

9. Garlic has become a popular supplement! It is no wonder; it has great benefits to help your high blood pressure.

10. How about Hawthorn? No, not the writer… the herb! Sprinkle this herb on any dish and watch those blood pressure numbers plummet.

11. Multi-vitamins are loaded with vitamins that benefit your health and lower your blood pressure.

12. Relax! I know it sounds simple, but you would be surprised how many people forget about this.

Finally, these twelve tips will help you reclaim back your life and health. However, don’t stop with these twelve. You need to continue to educate yourself and understand what you are against. High blood pressure is a disease that can be deadly. Please take a few minutes and check out our high blood pressure/hypertension website. You would be amazed what other readers are saying!

Lastly, if your doctor has prescribed a blood-pressure lowering drug or combination of drugs for you and you are currently taking them, Do Not stop all at once or without consulting your doctor. Talk to your doctor about your intention to treat your blood pressure naturally.

High Diastolic Blood Pressure

Do you know that your blood pressure is the perfect sign of your overall cardiovascular health? If your blood pressure is normal, it is a sign that your blood vessels are working perfectly. On the other hand, a high reading on your blood pressure could possibly mean that there is a health problem. Hig h blood pressure can injure or damage your blood vessels and heart as well. It can increase the risk of stroke, heart attack and kidney disease. Because you are at danger, it is important to have a regular check up with your doctor at least one or two times a year. Tell your doctor if you experience a high blood pressure reading. It is also important to know the normal blood pressure reading because that could be the time you should be concerned. You have to take into account two important numbers when reading your blood pressure. The first is the systolic pressure. It a measurement of the blood pressure when your heart is beating. The second one is diastolic which measures the amount of blood pressure when the heart is at rest. If you have high diastolic blood pressure, it could mean that your systolic pressure is high.

This is how to know if you have high diastolic blood pressure. The normal blood pressure is 120/80. The second number 80 is the diastolic reading. If this increases between 80 and 89, you are at the average of high diastolic blood pressure or the pre-hypertension period. If the number increases to 90, you are already considered to be a high diastolic blood pressure. About the first number which the number 120, when it goes between 130 and 139, you are considered at the average of systolic and a number above 140 is already a high systolic blood pressure.

If you experience a high diastolic blood pressure, you must report it to your doctor. Both of you will take methods to bring back your blood pressure into its normal level. This is important to reduce the risk of the other health issues in the up coming days.

What are the methods to reduce your high diastolic blood pressure?

Lifestyle change

Balanced and healthy diet

Regular exercise

Alcohol abstinence

Stop smoking

Medication will be required to lower high diastolic blood pressure. It will not be done just to lower your blood but of course to control high diastolic blood pressure. This is the reason why those people who started taking medications will be using this all throughout their lives.

A high diastolic blood pressure is something everyone should be aware of. Discuss your worries with your doctor. Tell him about the changes in the reading of your blood pressure. This way, you can prevent health risks.

Why You have High Blood Pressure?

Gaining control of blood pressure begins with understanding what constitutes normal blood pressure and what is high blood pressure. Armed with this knowledge, you can take appropriate steps to bring your blood pressure back to normal.

High blood pressure is called the silent killer because many people with the problem never know they have it. Of the fifty million Americans with high blood pressure, only about thirty million have been diagnosed. The rest may never know until they go to a doctor for another reasona”a physical for insurance purposes, a stroke, heart attack, kidney failure, or some other problem either caused by or having nothing to do with high blood pressurea”and have their blood pressure taken in a workup.

If your diastolic blood pressure went from 70 one day to 105 the next, you’d immediately get symptoms. But blood pressure usually creeps up slowly, often over many years, and your body adjusts to the gradual change. You feel “normal” until that day your doctor or the nurse says, “Your blood pressure’s too high!” However, you may experience the following symptoms, which can be early warning signs of high blood pressure.
a Headaches, especially in the morning
a Ringing in the ears
a Unexplained dizziness
a Spontaneous nosebleeds
a Depression without apparent cause
a Blurred vision
a Tension when there is no cause
a Flushing of the face

In-deed, most common high blood pressure is the outcome of many factors that have accumulated over the years. Following is a list of common causes.
a Alcohol
a Dietary fat imbalance
a Low dietary K-factor (sodium-potassium balance); excess sodium chloride (salt)
a Excess weight
a Heredity
a Insulin overload
a Poor nutrition
a Poor fitness
a Stress

In short, about 85 percent of all high blood pressure cases can be reversed by deliberate changes in diet and lifestyle. About two-thirds of the remaining 15 percent can significantly bring down their need for medication by the same measures. This means that nearly everyone with high blood pressure can dramatically lower his blood pressure by following appropriate actions.

High Blood Pressure – A Silent Killer

High Blood Pressure – A Silent Killer

Alistrol Health

www.Alistrol.com

High blood pressure, or hypertension, is often characterized as the silent killer-and for good reason. Although it affects an estimated one in five North Americans, many people don’t experience any symptoms. As a result, less than one-quarter of sufferers actually receive treatment. Left untreated, however, it can severely damage the cardiovascular system, leading to death from stroke, heart attack or kidney failure.

Most high blood pressure patients are candidates for medications, including ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers and diuretics. However, statistics show that of the 20 to 30 million individuals diagnosed with high blood pressure, less than half stay on their medication for more than one year. Moreover, 60 per cent of those who lower their medication do so because of side-effects. Given this information, the use of nutritional and botanical supplements, along with the adoption of a healthier lifestyle, can be of immense benefit in fighting this hidden killer.

Lifestyle and Dietary Approaches

If you wish to either prevent or treat high blood pressure, changing how you eat, sleep, and respond to stress are very important considerations. In the eight-week DASH trial conducted by the Heart, Lung and Blood Institute in 1997, 70 percent of volunteers who eliminated meat and sugar, decreased unhealthy fat intake, and increased fruit and vegetable consumption decreased blood pressure to below 140/90 mm/Hg compared to just 45 percent of those who only ate more fruits and vegetables.

Individuals with high blood pressure should decrease sodium intake to approximately three grams per day and add at least four daily servings of foods rich in potassium (beans, spinach, melon, potatoes, tomatoes, bananas, avocados). Decreasing sodium intake alone has reduced blood pressure by 8.4 mm/Hg systolic and 4.4 mm/Hg diastolic. Moreover, alcohol intake should be reduced to less than two drinks per day. Research has shown that a shift from five to two drinks daily can decrease blood pressure by 8 mm/Hg systolic and 4.4 mm/Hg diastolic.

A structured exercise program is another important factor. In one study, an average weight reduction of 4.5 kg by individuals who were 10 to 65 per cent overweight led to a significant reduction in systolic blood pressure after just six months. In addition, stopping smoking is a must for anyone diagnosed with hypertension.

Stress Management and Sleep

Those with high blood pressure need to employ stress management and relaxation techniques. This concept was investigated by Dr. D. Shapiro and associates from the department of psychiatry and biobehavioural sciences at the University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine. Individuals with a mild to moderate increase in blood pressure were given blood pressure-lowering medications and then divided at random into two groups. One group performed simple stress management techniques, while the other did not. Remarkably, 55 percent of those who employed stress-reducing strategies were able to remain medication free, compared to only 30 percent in the control group, as found after a one-year follow-up examination.

A good night’s sleep is also important. Researchers from the University of Pavia in Italy found that high blood pressure patients deprived of sleep had significant increases in blood pressures and heart rates, especially during the evening.

CoQ10, Magnesium and Fish Oil

Several supplements have proven to be of great value in the fight against hypertension. One is coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), or ubiquinone. One study of 18 patients with high blood pressure concluded that 100 milligrams of CoQ10 daily for 10 weeks lowered systolic and diastolic blood pressure by 10.6 and 7.7 mm/Hg respectively.

In addition to CoQ10, 480 mg of magnesium oxide daily for two months decreased blood pressure on average by 2.5 mm/Hg systolic and 1.4 mm/Hg diastolic over 24 hours in individuals with mild to moderate hypertension. (Those employing magnesium therapy are cautioned that this may lead to episodes of diarrhea.)

Fish oils rich in the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA are also helpful adjuncts in the control of blood pressure. Individuals with mild increases in blood pressure were given either two grams of EPA and 1.4 g of DHA from fish oil (approximately 12 1,000-mg capsules of an 18 percent EPA/12 percent DHA mixture) or a placebo every day for four months. After only eight weeks, blood pressure was reduced by 6 mm/Hg systolic and 5 mm/Hg diastolic. Individuals wishing to try this high-dose fish oil approach should also increase vitamin E intake to 800 IU per day.

Garlic and Reishi Mushroom

For those with mild to moderate elevations in blood pressure, garlic and reishi mushroom may be of value. The use of standardized garlic (Allium sativum) supplements at a dose of up to 900 mg per day for 12 to 16 weeks decreases both systolic and diastolic blood pressure in individuals with moderate elevations in blood pressure. In fact, one study concluded that garlic supplements decreased standing diastolic pressure from 101 to 90 mm/Hg and systolic pressure from 171 to 150 mm/Hg after 12 weeks.

Unlike garlic, the use of reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum or Ling zhi in Chinese) in the treatment of hypertension is not well recognized. However, the conclusions of a recent trial suggest that it may be another helpful, natural, blood pressure-lowering agent. Fifty-five individuals on anti-hypertensive medications with moderate increases in blood pressure were given either 55 mg of concentrated reishi mushroom extract or a placebo, three times a day for one month. Unlike the 14 individuals in the placebo group, those taking the concentrated mushroom extract had a significant reduction in blood pressure.

In conclusion, high blood pressure is a serious problem that affects one in four adults. It is important that individuals afflicted with this problem adopt a healthy lifestyle that includes quitting smoking, reducing stress, eating better, losing weight and increasing exercise. These changes, along with the judicious use of supplements and herbal therapies, can help combat this silent killer.

Alistrol Natural Supplement

Alistrol is a patented, proprietary blend of natural ingredients that have been used for centuries to help support healthy blood pressure. Use Alistrol everyday to help maintain healthy circulation and support cardio-vascular health. Time-tested for safety, the herbal extracts in Alistrol have no known side effects.

Studies confirm this unique blend of natural ingredients support healthy heart function. Helps maintain healthy arteries, helps support blood flow and central and peripheral vascular circulation. Furthermore, Alistrol helps maintain blood flow to the heart and supports healthy blood pressure in the pulmonary artery and all arteries in general.

What is Blood Pressure?

Blood pressure is simply the pressure of blood against the walls of the main arteries. Two readings, systolic (when the heart is contracting) and diastolic (when the heart is relaxing), are measured by a device that records pressure changes in millimetres of mercury (mm/Hg). Various factors-age, stress, diet, exercise-will affect the readings. The following chart shows a continuum of blood pressure values including both healthy and unhealthy states.

Exercise, Regular Activity For High Blood Pressure

Maintaining normal blood pressure for the major parts of your life is something, which sounds much difficult to achieve. But with a considerable amount of physical activities in hand, even consistent problems like hypertension can be done away with.

There is a lot of physical activity that we do on a day-to-day basis. But it requires your initiative to indulge into some extra activity to work in the direction of treating blood pressure. And that can be achieved in the form of an impeccable workout regime.

A good physical activity in the form of regular exercising not only controls high blood pressure, but also prevents hypertension to occur in future with age. A good exercising routine does way with your need to binge up on unnecessary medicines to control blood pressure.

Besides keeping your blood pressure to the normal limits, a regular exercising regime has other benefits too. It will also enable you to maintain proper weight, which is a prerequisite to have normal blood pressure and healthy living. It will open up your capacity to eat healthy food. It will also open gates of energetic living.

With regular physical activities you will feel a birth of new synergy in your body that you always desired. In a matter of just three to four months, you will be able to see a considerable positive change in your high blood pressure. And the benefits will stay with you till you exercise.

Generally the exercises that are advised to people who suffer from high blood pressure fall in the category of aerobic exercises. Aerobic exercises are the ones that increase the consumption of oxygen in the body. These exercises are of low intensity. Because of this they can be performed for long durations and continuously.

Some of the common aerobic exercises are swimming, jogging, dancing, climbing stairs, cycling. The mantra to normal blood pressure levels is to exercise for 30 minutes daily. But if you cannot exercise for 30 minutes on a stretch, you can divide the whole exercising pattern into short pieces during the day.

But then there are certain things that you need to keep in mind before setting your mind on any exercising pattern. Get yourself checked with a good medical practitioner. Only if he confirms that you are fit enough to start with a short dosage of exercises, then you can go in this direction.

All in all, you can say that our body is just like a machine. The more you use it, the more flexible it becomes and thus more output is delivered. Therefore it becomes very essential that you involve a considerable amount of physical activity in your daily routine that keeps you jazzed up through out your life.

When a patient is suffering from renal failure, the term accelerated hypertension will often be used.

Every minute the blood pressure changes, largely depending on whether you are in an active or resting mode. The body temperature, medications and other things such as the stature and emotion play a part.
