because water acts as a diuretic and a blood thinner?
Somewhat……But if your system is full of salt, stay AWAY From water!! It can cause extreme edema (fluid build up) and make your blood pressure worse! Only if you're on a low-salt diet, high potassium does water work effectively.
is it true drinking lots of water reduces high blood pressure?

Kinda. Most people are dehydrated and the result is a body that is not working in a correctly balanced state. The more you focus on supporting that balance, the more your body will work out the rest.

Not unless you're massively dehydrated. Water really isn't a blood thinner, but it can act as a diuretic… which can dehydrate you.
Just drink what is recommended. Don't try and flush yourself clean. Do see a doctor and get an opinion.
