I have 155/94 blood pressure reading. Does this anything related to HIV? Is it a symptom?
No. High blood pressure is a completely different ailment. High blood pressure can be genetic. Stress, the foods you eat (high sodium), lack of exercise and obesity are all major causes of high blood pressure. It can be controlled by a combination of exercise, diet modification and medication. However, HIV can come with a number of complications since it weakens the immune system. Therefore, it is possible that indirectly, some of the complications of HIV could include high blood pressure as well as some cancers. The numbers you gave are a bit higher than would be healthy. If your blood pressure remains high, it causes your internal organs (heart, kidney, eyes) to work too hard, resulting in serious medical problems. It’s important that you monitor this daily and by taking medication to keep your blood pressure under control. You can purchase a blood pressure kit from most pharmacies or surgical supply stores. High blood pressure can lead to heart attacks and strokes and strokes are the leading cause of disability in the US. Stay close to your doctor and try to stay active and healthy.
