I want to know what are some symptoms of high blood pressure during the third trimester of pregnancy? I am 35 weeks pregnant and today I woke up feeling really weak, bad headache, and diarreah (sorry tmi) I was telling my cousin who just had a baby and she suggested I go to the hospital just to make sure it’s not high blood pressure….but I don’t know, I don’t want to go if I don’t really need to. What where some of you’re symptoms you had with high blood pressure?
Swelling (more than normal for pregnancy), especially in your hands or feet. Headache – but the feeling is like being hung upside down for a long time, like all the blood is rushing to your head. And also you might see little flashes of light in your perephrial vision.
I had high blood pressure through both of my prenancies, and the swelling and headache always accompanied a spike in my blood pressure – and the flashes of light were a sure sign that I needed to go to the hospital.
You can also just walk into your OB office and ask them to take your blood pressure, they will be happy to do that without an appointment.

I got a really bad headache that Tylenol didn’t help, was swollen and just didn’t feel right. It never hurts to get checked out unless your insurance stinks.

In my first pregnancy I had high blood pressure in my 3rd trimester. I remember being swollen and feeling dizzy. But i’ve had diarrhea and bad headache in this pregnancy. But no high blood pressure. So just check with your doctor at your next appointment which should be in a week or so. If your symptoms get worse, or the diarrhea doesn’t subside. Call your doctor right away.

I was faint, had black out spells, I saw dots or orbs of light (sort of like when a flash of a camara goes off and you still see it) I was often weak, I always had migrains, I was swollen more than normal for a pregnancy, I was very irritable, I sweated a lot.
When my blood pressure was under control or low I never had those problems so I do not know if all of them are just me with high blood pressure or if they are common, but it is what I experianced. I also turned out to have preeclampsia.

if you start getting dizzy, feet, legs and/or hands start to swell…you should go to your local grocery store and use their Bp monitor..if they dont have one then some phamacies have them to use…see what your bp is and if its higher than usual then call your OB/GYN….it may or may not be your bodies signs that your ready to give birth….i had my daughter at 35 weeks 2 days and about a week before then i noticed my leg starting to swell

I believe I had eclampsia, or at least preeclampsia. My blood-pressure was through the roof!!! I noticed on Christmas day 2005, that my feet had ballooned up. Completely swollen! They were so swollen, the skin was incredibly tight around my feet…kinda gross. I also, was more fatigued than usual with a normal pregnancy…just VERY run down…and I had been pretty active throughout that pregnancy. I had one of those weekly checkups right after the Christmas holiday…sure enough, I had very bad, HIGH blood pressure…my Ob/Gyn. must have checked it 3 or 4 times…He didn’t believe it was that high…sent me to the Hospital next door for a more thorough blood-pressure check…sure enough, I was in the danger zone…So, just go have it checked…I’d rather be safe than sorry! It’s not worth waiting it out!

Those are possible symptoms, but usually high blood pressure in itself doesn’t typically have any symptoms. It’s a good idea to get yourself checked out, I think. You never know what it could be.

Preeclampsia is a disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and the postpartum period and affects both the mother and the unborn baby. Affecting at least 5-8% of all pregnancies, it is a rapidly progressive condition characterized by high blood pressure and the presence of protein in the urine. Swelling, sudden weight gain, headaches and changes in vision are important symptoms; however, some women with rapidly advancing disease report few symptoms. It can be very dangerous. Know the symptoms and trust yourself! Wishing you all the best. Take care
