What are some ways to prevent or help reduce high blood pressure, other than the medication when it becomes necessary? I am referring to borderline high blood pressure that appears to only occur each time pregnant. What can done to prevent it from getting so bad as to need medication? Thanks!
Get a good OB/GYN that knows how to take care of patients with this. I had untreated high BP during my pregnancy and ended up having a child with Cerebral Palsy. My doc was dumb and kept telling me "You’re fine". Now my son is left with a lifetime of problems that he shouldn’t have. PLEASE get good medical care with an educated and experienced doc. If you have a good doc, they will know exactly what to tell you to do.

You can try to change your diet. I know this is a time when cravings are at an all time high but eat healthy. Stay out of stressful situations if possible. Garlic is supposed to be good for blood pressure.
Good Luck!

Reduce your sodium in your diet. It can hide in processed foods, certain beverages also.
Drink more water. This helps flush your system.
Avoid stessful situations if possible. Low level exercise, not strenuous.

Watch your diet…decrease salt intake and increase water consumption, don’t eat too many fatty foods, and eat more fruits and vegetables and less meat. Exercise. Take your B.P. regularly. Hope this is helpful.

My own horrifying, life altering experience.
Diet, exercise and eat garlic! Garlic really did work for me. I ate it all the time after I found out I had high BP and didn’t have to take meds because of it.

I had preclampsia with both of my pregnancies. I have learned with my second pregnancy that lowering my salt intake and cutting out sugar, worked wonderful. My bp was still high but not as bad as with my first pregnancy.
