Overweight bodies have generally high blood cholesterol contents which frequently invite heart attack to the person by blocking the blood flow through veins and arteries. Use of diet pills for reducing body weight may not be effective to avoid risk of life in these cases.
We have some guidance for you if you have high cholesterol, which may be a reason for heart disease. This will be important and useful information to help you manage your heart health.
Possibility of having high blood cholesterol increases if someone in your family has high blood cholesterol.
There is simple remedy to tackle high blood cholesterol if it is detected at early stage.
Balanced diet and regular exercise are the best way to fight high cholesterol in blood.
As much the body is strained by regular exercise, there will be more chance of melting fat in your body lowering the bad cholesterol content in your blood. Balanced and low cholesterol diet will prevent you from depositing excess fat in the body which increases cholesterol content in blood.
However, if the situation becomes acute, then diet, exercise, and even diet pills, may not be enough to lower your blood cholesterol level.
In such a situation, you require some special treatment along with your exercise and balance diet. Fist action will be to visit a doctor and try the medicinal help as per his instructions.
Most of the experienced doctors generally recommend Lipitor along with diet and exercise in cases of high blood cholesterol which may initiate a heart attack.
Lipitor has proved itself a suitable oral medicine effective for lowering blood cholesterol which also reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke in people.
The medicine is equally helpful for the persons suffering from multiple risk factors for heart disease like high blood pressure, family history of high cholesterol, vulnerable age for heart attack, low content of good cholesterol in blood etc. Remember that there is “good cholesterol” also which is favorable to body and also there is “bad cholesterol” which is the culprit and harmful to the body.
Let us discuss some points about Lipitor and its effectiveness for its fight against heart attack.
The medical name of Lipitor is Atorvastatin Calcium, which is a member of the class of medicine known as statins . The medicine is marketed in the US by Pfizer in the name of Lipitor.
The medicine has different names in different countries. Lipitor is the largest selling drug in the world with $12.2 Billions US sales figure in 2005.
This medicine inhibits cholesterol synthesis in the body, which lowers the amount of cholesterol produced and thus lowering the total amount of LDL cholesterol which is the so called bad cholesterol inviting heart attack.
With 2005 sales of US$12.2 billion under the brand name Lipitor, it is the largest selling drug in the world.
However, there are a few Lipitor side effects, and let me place it briefly as below:
Most common side effects are the liver problem and in rare cases there may be muscle problems. The medicine is not fit for pregnant or breast feeding mothers. Also the medicine may not match with continuing with habit of drinking.
The other Lipitor side effects are headache, insomnia and dizziness etc. While you are under treatment with Lipitor, and are affected by any of the above side effects, immediately consult your doctor.
However, in spite of its side effects, which can easily be tackled by an experienced doctor, Lipitor is the most effective medicine to fight bad cholesterol in your body. You just judge the sales figures of last year!
So, if your problem is acute, visit a doctor and try Lipitor.

I have stopped Lipitor for couple months, cholesterol went up to 268 Doc is freak in want to fight it natural
Well, are you severly overweight? Do you exercise? Do you eat healthy? Without knowing these things, it’s hard for anyone to give you advice. I get sick of hearing people say there doctors wont give them meds when they weigh 300 lbs and eat twinkies all day.

Do you have a good HDL/LDL ratio?
What exercise do you do now?
Eating more fiber, taking fish oil etc can help lower cholesterol. Lipitor doesn’t change the ratios, just lowers the numbers. The ratio is more important than the total.

Elevated triglycerides is one of the easiest problems to correct with the appropriate diet. Simple restriction of all sugars and grains.
Sugars and grains and require insulin secretion, which is a potent stimulus to the liver to produce triglycerides, and sugars and grains must be reduced if you are looking to lower your triglycerides.
High triglycerides in the blood are often seen in overweight people. But even people who are not overweight may have stores of fat in their arteries as a result of insulin resistance. These triglycerides in the blood are the direct result of carbohydrates from the diet being converted by insulin. These triglycerides do not come directly from dietary fats. They are made in the liver from any excess sugars which have not been used for energy.
The grains are rapidly metabolized to simple sugars, which studies have clearly associated with elevated triglyceride levels. The right approach is to radically reduce consumption of all simple sugars and grains. In contrast to the drug options which are traditionally applied, it is inexpensive and simple to substitute green leafy vegetables, which have a low glycemic index, for sugars and grains, and there are no toxic effects
There is an almost direct correlation between triglyceride levels and insulin levels, although more in some people than others. The way you control blood lipids is by controlling insulin. By getting the insulin levels down, you achieve a reduction in the triglycerides levels. And you get the insulin levels down through diet and exercise.
Unfortunately, most people have difficulties implementing changes to their diet and exercise regimen. Contrary to popular belief, a low fat diet is NOT the solution to lowering high triglycerides levels.

Red Yeast Rice and gugulipid are both natural forms of statins (Lipitor is a statin) You can get either at the health food store. Also, if you’re willing to juice–drinking juice made with celery, green apples, green peppers, and cucumber is also very helpful.

Some good answers here but also remember exercise a lot. By this I mean 80% of maximum heart rate for a minimum of 40 minutes a day. Unless you are already exercising, you may want to work up to that level to avoid harming yourself.
After 20 minutes, your muscles will start beta oxidation of fatty acids that it will pull directly from the low density lipoproteins (LDLs) that are in your bloodstream. It is the most natural way to fight cholesterol. Also, Vitamin B3 (Niacin) is used to help cholesterol ratios. You may want to used a combined approach including a statin (whether lipitor or a natural statin like red yeast rice) until you cholesterol gets out of that dangerous territory.
