Controlling your blood pressure is just one of many things you can do to prevent stroke. Many people assume that strokes can’t be prevented. Controlling High Blood Pressure also requires you to make changes to your lifestyle, through proper diet and exercise. To assist you, there are various herbal remedies available that are reported to help lower HBP.

Medicine can be a great high blood pressure treatment. Ask your doctor if any medications might be right for you. Medicines will control your blood pressure, but they cannot cure it. You will need to take blood pressure medicine for a long time.

Drugs that help lower high blood pressure have various side effects. If you experience severe side effects from any drug, contact your doctor immediately. Drugs that lower blood pressure include diuretics, beta blockers and calcium channel blockers.

Salt substitutes usually contain potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride as found in salt. The salt substitute makes you produce saliva much in the same way salt does. Salt and sugar intake must be dramatically curtailed with an increase in fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy protects, fiber and protein from meat, fish and poultry. Losing weight will result in lower blood pressure.

Vasodilators open blood vessels by relaxing the muscle in the vessel walls. Calcium channel blockers (CCBs) prevent calcium from getting into the muscle cells of the heart and blood vessels, relaxing the blood vessels. Vasodilators are not commonly used alone to treat ongoing high blood pressure because of the significant drop in blood pressure that they cause, which may lead to heart palpitations or rapid heartbeat. They may be used if a person is in a hypertensive crisis or when other classes of medicine are not effective in controlling high blood pressure.

Potassium pills may need to be taken with some diuretics. A diet high in potassium also may be needed. Potassium levels and kidney function are watched closely as the dose increases.

Tekturna works by reducing the ability of renin to begin this process. Doctors say Tekturna is unique because it acts earlier in your body’s blood pressure process than other medications. Tekturna is known as a renin inhibitor. Renin is an enzyme produced by your kidneys that starts a cascade of chemical steps that increases blood pressure.

Calcium Channel Blockers reduce the overall level of calcium in the heart, reducing blood pressure. Alpha Blockers lower blood pressure by limiting the nerve impulses sent to the blood vessels, while Alpha-Beta Blockers combine the effects of Alpha-Blockers and Beta-Blockers. Calcium channel blockers keep calcium from entering the muscle cells of the heart and blood vessels. This reduces the heart rate and causes the blood vessels to relax. Calcium, magnesium, potassium, and CoQ10 deficiencies are directly linked to high blood pressure. Therefore reducing their amounts in the body can make it more difficult for your doctor to normalize your blood pressure.

Beta-blockers are also one of the types of drugs used to lower blood pressure. Although migraines are not considered to be high blood pressure headaches, high blood pressure medication does seem to help. Beta blockers will lower blood pressure by regulating the heart rate. Other effective drugs for lowering your pressure are vasodilators, ace inhibitors and calcium channel blockers. Beta blockers are one group. They slow the heart down.

Alternative medicine is relatively inexpensive while medications can easily cost a small fortune. Furthermore, medications usually have side effects, which may be difficult for some people to handle. Alternative therapies can help to cure the problem of high blood pressure without taking recourse to conventional drugs that often have serious side effects. The focus of alternative treatments is to treat the very source of the disease.

Talk to your doctor about adjusting your medication and making lifestyle changes that will lower your blood pressure to under 140/90.

Low blood pressure Medications

Why blood pressure
Certain nominal blood pressure is needed to circulate the blood in to the body to supply nutrient and oxygen for energy. Normally blood pressure is indicated by two numbers diastolic over systolic. Systolic pressure during heart contracts and diastolic pressure during heart dilates (rest).

Blood pressure is the force exerted by circulating blood on the walls of blood vessels, and constitutes one of the principal vital signs of life, which also include heart beat, rate of breathing, and temperature. Blood pressure is generated by the heart pumping blood into the arteries and is regulated by the response by the arteries to the flow of blood.

An individual’s blood pressure is expressed as systolic/diastolic blood pressure, for example, 120/80.The systolic blood pressure (the top number) represents the pressure in the arteries as the muscle of the heart contracts and pumps blood into them. The diastolic blood pressure (the bottom number) represents the pressure in the arteries as the muscle of the heart relaxes after it contracts. Blood pressure always is higher when the heart is pumping (squeezing) than when it is relaxing.

If these blood pressure drops below certain range causes many annoying low blood pressure symptoms such as blurred vision, dizziness, fatigue, fainting, palpitation and etc.

Low blood pressure range
The blood pressure which is considered to be low is as below:

Systolic blood pressure lower than 90 mmHg or Diastolic blood pressure lower than 60 mmHg

If any one of the number is lower than the above said range then it is considered as low blood pressure or hypotension.

Low blood pressure (hypotension) is pressure so low it causes symptoms or signs due to the low flow of blood through the arteries and veins. When the flow of blood is too low to deliver enough oxygen and nutrients to vital organs such as the brain, heart, and kidney, the organs do not function normally and may be permanently damaged.

If these annoying of low blood pressure occur, then need treatments. First try to overcome these low blood pressure symptoms by following lifestyle changes or hypotension guidelines. Hypotension guidelines are just some smart food choices and certain healthy exercises to normalize blood pressure and stop annoying low blood pressure symptoms.

Hypotension Medicines
Even after following hypotension guidelines, if the blood pressure is not normalize or if the low blood pressure is very low in the danger zone then it is must to take conventional medications based on the low blood pressure causes and symptoms. Some of the most commonly prescribed low blood pressure medications for low blood pressure treatments are:

Fludrocortisone, Midodrine, Pyridostigmine, Caffeine, Erythropoietin, Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

I personally benefited with alternative medicine such as herbs, homeopathy, yoga, acupressure and reflexology. I like everyone should enjoy that benefit, so I decided to popularize alternative medicine.
Low blood pressure
Low blood pressure medications

High Blood Pressure Cures – 6 Tips to Gain 10 years

Are you aware there are currently over 50 high blood pressure cures? But the problem is identifying which ones work and which don’t. This article will cover some of the ones that do. The cost of high blood pressure meds and their nasty side effects has made more and more sufferers turn to natural treatments than ever before. There a number of studies done where patients who used natural remedies were more likely to lower their blood pressure than patients who used prescription drugs.

If you are considering the natural path to lowering your blood pressure please visit http://www.controlhighbloodpressure.info for a an outlined step by step High Blood Pressure Cures Report.

Why Consider Natural High Blood Pressure Cures?

Natural Remedies is a growing market in America because there is a large number of people that are fed up with the serious side effects that come with prescribed medicine. Therefore more and more people are making a conscious decision and are reversing high blood pressure with nutrition tips, lifestyle tips, breathing tips, supplements, vitamin therapy and herbal remedies. What is more striking is that the majority of the people that choose a natural remedy over prescribed meds are more likely to immediately feel better , lower their blood pressure and lose weight. Why? Because their body is renewing and de-aging itself. If you suffer from high blood pressure your body age is between 10 and 20 years older than your real age – fact!

So, here are some high blood pressure cures that will lower high blood pressure and add 10 years to your life.

High Blood Pressure Cure # 1- Diet.

Your Diet is the most important contributor to your blood pressure. Health experts recommend a diet that is rich in whole grains, fruits and vegetables, seeds, nuts and dried beans. You also need to dramatically reduce the amount of red meat you eat along with sodium (salt). Experts recommend that you eat less than 1500 milligrams a day.

High Blood Pressure Cure # 2- Supplements.

You also need to incorporate supplements intake. There are a number of vitamins and minerals which have shown to normalize blood pressure. One of the most important nutrients to help combat high blood pressure is potassium. Duke Research has shown that you could drop almost 20 points by getting 4,700 milligrams of potassium a day. A great source of potassium is found in bananas.

High Blood Pressure Cure # 3- Magnesium.

Magnesium is another important nutrient and it is something that your body is probably currently lacking in. You see potassium and magnesium have an important relationship, so if you have low magnesium levels, it’s very likely that your potassium levels will be low as well. Health experts recommend 400 milligrams of magnesium a day for high blood pressure sufferers. A cup of black beans for example has 120 milligrams whereas 2 ounces of almonds have 156 milligrams.

High Blood Pressure Cure # 4- Calcium.

Calcium is the third nutrient recommended for reducing high blood pressure. They help stop blood clots. The majority of adults are calcium deficient without even being aware of it. It is recommended to get 1,250 milligrams of calcium a day. The following foods are a good natural source of calcium: broccoli, low fat dairy products and spinach.

High Blood Pressure Cure # 5- Relaxation.

It is very crucial that you learn to de-stress as this can help lower your blood pressure in just a few hours. Did you know that even mild stress can raise your blood pressure? A great way to reduce stress is through meditation. Find a quiet spot in your house, with no background noise and no disruptions and close your eyes for 10 minutes. Try and eliminate all your thoughts as they begin entering your mind and your blood pressure will lower itself naturally in minutes.

High Blood Pressure Cure # 6- Herbs.

There are a number of herbs that help reduce high blood pressure however a very well known and effective herb is garlic! Garlic is often branded as a magic herb because not only does it lower blood pressure, it also lowers cholesterol! Begin eating garlic or take a garlic supplement today.

These are just a few of the natural high blood pressure cures out there that lower your blood pressure. However I hope that you are interested enough to find out more cures. For 100% satisfaction guaranteed then please visit http://ControlHighBloodPressure.info and begin to take control of your health.

High Blood Pressure Medication Related Guide

If you are looking for information about high blood pressure medication, you will find the below related article very helpful. It provides a refreshing perspective that is much related to high blood pressure medication and in some manner related to lifesource blood pressure monitors, audio device not found, blood pressure measurement device or best blood pressure monitors. It isn’t the same old kind of information that you will find elsewhere on the Internet relating to high blood pressure medication.

Raising your premature baby’s blood pressure can be as simple as giving your baby extra fluid by IV, but sometimes it takes a bit more. Medications called pressors can increase your premature baby’s blood pressure. If the cause for low blood pressure is blood loss, then a blood transfusion will be performed with donor blood from a blood bank.

The normal blood pressure of a healthy young adult is about 110/75 (below 120 mm Hg systolic and 80 mm Hg diastolic). As one gets older, the normal blood pressure usually gets higher- a 60-year old usually has a blood pressure of 130/90.

Coronary heart disease, leading to heart attack and stroke, is the main harm that can be caused by High Blood Pressure. Hence, we can realize the fact that High Blood Pressure can easily play with the lives of man.

Unlike many people out there, don’t forget that even if this article related to high blood pressure medication doesn’t cover all the basics you wanted, you can always take a look at any of the search engines like Google dot com or Search.Yahoo dot com for more high blood pressure medication related information.

Low blood pressure, the medical term hypotension is generally defined as that which is below normal and relative to the individual with things taken into account such as age and activity levels.

Who uses a blood pressure cuff on you? Usually it is a doctor or a nurse that takes your blood pressure and uses the cuff. However, your blood pressure can also be taken electronically by a machine. The nurse would strap the cuff around your arm and the machine would proceed to take your blood pressure.

Different blood pressure monitors provide different readings. The most common blood pressure monitor uses a column of mercury to gauge the blood pressure with a hand pump attached to the arm of the patient. When you pump this, the blood pressure monitor tightens on your arm. Readings taken by this device are usually accurate. However, a disadvantage with this type of mercury-based blood pressure monitor is that accidental spilling of mercury can cause various allergic reactions and illness.

Many people searching for high blood pressure medication also searched online for blood pressure monitors comparison, hypotension, and even omron blood pressure monitor cuff.

How Safe Is Your Blood Pressure Medication?

Sometimes, you can treat high blood pressure with a simple change of diet, exercise and lifestyle. Other cases are not so simple to resolve, and the doctor may prescribe a high blood pressure medication. The particular medication will depend on other key factors, such as the severity of your high blood pressure condition. It would also depend on any other existing medical conditions.

Know Your Medications

There are many aspects of blood pressure medications to consider for treating the condition. While your doctor is the one who will decide the treatment, you should have some knowledge about the various medications. For example, how they react or interact with other conditions or medications. Visiting the local pharmacy can help answer questions or concerns before approaching your doctor, but information is the key.

While most people treated for blood pressure don’t need other medications for another medical condition, some do. When taking more than one blood pressure medication, it’s important to make sure those medications would not conflict with one another other. Also, let your doctor know what other medications you are taking before he prescribes a particular one for you.

Other Health Problems

If you have high blood pressure and have no other ailments, the doctor will more than likely prescribe a blood pressure medication such as thiazide-type diuretics. This medication suits those without other medical problems. Thiazide-type diuretics have been proven to not only lower blood pressure, but also to prevent heart attacks and strokes. They are less expensive than other high blood pressure drugs. And these diuretics are the most common of first drugs prescribed to treat high blood pressure. You only need to take most of these medications once a day.

Other blood pressure medication such as a beta-blocker can reduce risk of strokes or heart attacks. They help protect hearts weakened by coronary artery disease. Similarly, enzyme inhibitors help to protect the kidneys for those suffering from diabetes and kidney insufficiency as well. Enzyme inhibitors also protect the heart after a major heart attack or if you have congestive heart failure.

Calcium channel blockers help people suffering from angina. Similarly, alpha-blockers improve blood levels of certain fats. For those suffering from other medical conditions, such as diabetes or congestive heart failure or angina, the doctor will most likely prescribe a beta-blocker. Doctors will also consider the age of the patient. Often, medications in seniors react differently than in younger and more healthy patients.

What are the side effects?

As with any blood pressure medication, side effects can occur. They include, but are not limited to, increased need to urinate, difficulty sleeping and dizziness. Other side effects can be some sexual dysfunction in men, nasal stuffiness or headaches.

Many people use blood pressure medication and never experience these side effects, so don’t let the fear of them stop you from taking the medication. Work with your doctor to find the right medication with the least amount of side effects for your specific condition. No matter which blood pressure medication the doctor prescribes, it is important to follow instructions to the letter.

G & G Holistic Addiction Treatment Program has recently implemented a new and innovative component to their comprehensive, holistic approach to the treatment of addicts and alcoholics. Created by Dr. Harry Henshaw, G & G Holistic is now offering clients who suffer from hypertension the opportunity to learn how to treat their high blood pressure holistically. While it is important to have a client evaluated medically, G & G Holistic has a promising alternative to the use of medication for lowering blood pressure.

Hypertension is a problem that affects many individuals indeed one out of every three individuals in the US has hypertension. Due to the fact that there are little or no symptoms of high blood pressure, one third those that have the condition don’t even that they have it. Uncontrolled high blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attack, heart and kidney failure. Hypertension or high blood is defined as a elevated blood pressure reading greater than 120/80.

There are a variety of treatments that can be done to help a person with hypertension or high blood pressure. One of the traditional treatments for hypertension is with the daily use of high blood pressure medications Unfortunately, it is commonly prescribed that this type of medicinal treatment is for the duration of the individual’s life.

Another promising way of treating hypertension is to help a person learn how to alter his or her breathing patterns. While many physicians do not believe that there is any connection between a person’s high blood pressure and his or her breathing pattern, research is now starting to explore the fundamental relationship between blood pressure and breathing. Unlike biofeedback and relaxation exercises, it is believed that this type of treatment will help the individual to restore healthy blood pressure levels.

When we breathe we draw oxygen into our body the lungs absorb the oxygen that we breathe in and then he oxygen is transported by the blood stream to the cells of our body, which produces the energy needed for our proper functioning. The reverse of this process is when carbon dioxide is transferred from the cells back to the lungs to be exhaled from our body. In a very fundamental sense, our breathing pattern effects every part of our body.

Most individuals have a shallow breathing pattern. However, shallow breathing creates a serious problem for us. When we have a shallow breathing pattern we do not bring in enough oxygen into our lungs for the needs of our body. With shallow breathing, we also leave a great deal of carbon dioxide in our lungs when we exhale. Shallow breathing deprives the body of needed oxygen. As a result the heart will tend to compensate by pumping more blood to the body. High blood pressure is the result of the hearts attempting to compensate and supply more oxygen to the cells of the body.

However, this situation and the serious problem that is created as a result can be changed. Research is starting to reveal that by helping a person to learn how to change his or her breathing pattern that their blood pressure can be not only lowered but restored to a healthy functioning level. It is believed that our breathing pattern is learned, primarily from the experience of fear. Given that it is learned, we have the ability to relearn how to breathe harmoniously. It is believed that such a process can assist addicts who also suffer from hypertension.

Dr Harry Henshaw has created a product specifically designed to help a person create a more effective way of breathing and as a result lower his or her blood pressure. This unique audio product combines guided imagery with specially designed therapeutic relaxation music. The purpose of the guided imagery is to help teach a person how to breathe properly. The primary purpose of the therapeutic relaxation music is to create an audio environment that will enhance learning. The primary purpose of this special audio product is to teach a person to breathe more effectively and as a result to maintain a healthy blood pressure level without blood pressure medication.

Taking The Best High Blood Pressure Medication

It is hard to imagine how a person with high blood pressure would survive without taking a blood pressure medication. The unfortunate truth is that high blood pressure is a silent killer that does not warn you that it is going to strike and even a person that is otherwise in great health can all of a sudden come down with this dreaded condition. This is especially worrying because high blood pressure is now a disease that affects even young people and is not just an old people’s disease.

Effective for Your Symptoms

There is a slew of high blood pressure medicines out there that you will need to choose from though which the best high blood pressure medication for you will depend on the effectiveness of a medication for your particular symptoms.

There are also different kinds of blood pressure medications and so the answer to which the best high blood pressure medication is will depend on what your particular needs are and how a particular medication is able to control your hypertension symptoms.

Some people consider calcium channel blockers to be the best high blood pressure medication because these medications do not allow calcium to get into your cells and are especially beneficial when used by people that tend to suffer from unwanted build-up of calcium.

Alpha-blockers are considered the best high blood pressure medications whenever a person does not benefit from using calcium blockers. This high blood pressure medications work by helping to relax the blood vessels which then allows blood to pass through the vessels in an easier and uncomplicated manner and so helps to lower blood pressure.

The bottom line is of course that it is only your doctor who will be able to identify the best high blood pressure medication which of course will be different in different cases. However, once the best high blood pressure medication has been identified it is up to the patient to follow the dosage instructions unfailingly to ensure that the desired benefits accrue. Even a single missed dosage can adversely affect your blood pressure condition and this in turn can render even the best high blood pressure medication virtually ineffective.

The good news for people that plan on buying generic high blood pressure medications is that these are generally safe and very cost beneficial and will do a lot to help bring down high blood pressure. Most of the main ingredients in such generic medications will be similar to those that are found in some of the better known branded medications.

Question by darly: I was told I was pre diabetic, why would my PCP ignore a glucose level of 166 fasting?
Yes, it is me again, sorry. I went to my appointment on 8/03/09 The nurse did her usual blood pressure etc…she also did a glucose level which was 166, I had not eaten anything before hand as it was an early appt. I did have 1 cup of coffee w/2 sugars about 1 hr. before. I asked her why would it be that high, she said everyone has their ups & downs. (?) I had already had blood work that showed I was pre diabetic, also have symptoms, urinating often, blurred vision, legs, feet & hands tingle to mention a few. IWhen I questioned her on it she got very irate & started yelling at me “there is nothing wrong w/you,you don’t need any medication!”…I replied with “I did not ask for medication I was simply asking a question about my health”, She then closed her laptop, got up & said “this conversation is going nowhere!” started to leave..I got up and very calmly told her she would be reported and it wouldn’t be the first time. She has been reported by a lot of people and she is still there!! I now have no Dr. am waiting to see new one next month, didn’t get meds. for high cholesterol (315), I set the alarm off on the thing you put your finger in as my pulse was 121 when the nurse did it,my med. for reflux…just feel so lost. I’m sorry…my question is should she have avoided the glucose level of 166 being pre diabetic? I think she could at least have sent me for another one.
this is the breakdown of my cholesterol…total (315), my LDL is (215) my HDL is (41). The reason I was tested was because I had blood work done and my glucose was 57, had 2 cups of coffee not knowing that was being looked at, the next one was 106 fasting…now this. Thank you so much!
I do know when my glucose level is low, I am really irritable, shaky, lightheaded, heart pounding, yet I have been really irritable for about a month now. Sometimes after I eat I feel nausea’s,heart pounds (like anxiety but it’s not), just feel sick.
I’m sorry,I realize I didn’t make myself too clear, this was the Doctor who yelled at me and got up & left!!

Best answer:

Answer by myquietangel
I would have the new Dr check you for diabetes with a glucose tolerance test. As for the high cholesterol, they can do that with a blood test. If it is too high, the Dr will prescribe a drug to lower it.
I would suggest that you buy one of those inexpensive glucomoter so that you can monitor your blood sugar at home. Just keep a list of what the blood sugar reading was and time of day. Preferrably, a fasting one in the A.M. and then 2 hours after supper. I have been told that a non diabetic could never have over a 200 reading, even after a big, big, meal.
Good luck to you, hang in there!

Blood Pressure Medications ? How to Choose Right Medication

Choosing blood pressure medications - This is the biggest dilemma one faces while going through high blood pressure disease. Most of the time your dilemma will be solved by your doctor, his expertise of disease and knowledge of your medical condition will decide what medication is suited best for your body. According to National High Blood Pressure Education Program has recommended established guidelines for high blood pressure. This is a coalition of doctors, professionals, and voluntary organizations and government.

The information about medication mentioned here may differ from what your doctor has advised you. This depend what level of high blood pressure you are having and in what medical condition you are in. There are people with other diseases apart from high blood pressure, in such cases it gets more complicated and this needs to be treated with combination multiple drugs.
Pre-Hypertension (120/80 – 139/89)

This is the stage when one starts developing high blood pressure. There are no major sign, which will tell you that you are having high blood pressure. If this remains undetected, this has chance of growing into high blood pressure. Undetected high blood pressure is dangerous situation and can lead to heart failure and kidney failure.

At this stage with changes in lifestyle focusing on eating and exercise can reduce high blood pressure. Ensure you are in touch with your doctor; proper diet plan and changes in lifestyle will help you in lowering high blood pressure.
Changes needed in your lifestyle are as follows:

1. Low intake of salt and sodium in your diet.
2. Stop smoking.
3. Eat lots of vegetables, fruits and low fat diary products.
4. Excess weight in your body does no good to you; it puts more pressure on heart to pump blood into vessels. Maintain healthy weight.
5. Daily exercise is needed for 30 minutes and more. In the beginning you can break this exercise into 2 or 3 parts spread across the day. There can be many ways you can do exercise, starting with simple brisk walk, dog walking, swimming, light exercise running etc. Please take doctor’s advice before doing any active exercise.
6. Stop alcohol drinks, no good to your health.

In case you have other diseases along with prehypertension, you might need medication; your doctor will be in better position to advise you about medication.
High blood pressure (140/90 to 159/99)

Stage 1 of diseases

Once your blood pressure numbers are between 140/90 and 159/89 you have progressed from prehypertension to stage 1 high blood pressure. I both numbers (top – systolic and bottom – diastolic) are high or in this range leads to stage 1 of high blood pressure.

At this point your doctor may recommend you trying diuretics. The diuretics are also called water pills. The objective of diuretics is to flush excess water and sodium from the body. The lowering of excess water and sodium helps in lowering the blood pressure and with major changes in lifestyle will help in reducing blood pressure.

Doctor will recommend you medication and changes in lifestyle to control your blood pressure. Depending upon medical condition you might need only diuretic medication with changes in lifestyle to control your blood pressure.

Blood Pressure Drugs:

Calcium Channel Blockers – The goal of the drug is to prevent calcium going into heart and blood vessel, which causes cells to relax and lowers blood pressure.
Beta Blockers – This drug helps in reducing nerve signal to heart and blood vessel, which in turn helps in lowering blood pressure.
Angiotensin-converting enzyme - This drug helps blood vessel to relax and helps blood vessel not to narrow. This drug is also helpful in reducing blood pressure.

Your doctor may recommend you one of these medications to bring down blood pressure. There can be other complications such as one suffering from diabetes etc. In such situation a combination of drug is needed to reduce blood pressure.

High blood pressure (160/100 to Above)

Stage 2 of diseases

Now if your blood pressure numbers are falling in the range of 160/100 and above, this is alarming situation. You now are in stage 2 category. At this point your doctor will prescribe you couple of medications to quickly reduce high blood pressure. Even in this case your doctor will start medication with diuretics to flush out excess water and sodium from the body. Keeping your high blood pressure number in view, your doctor will prescribe you more medication to lower blood pressure.
Blood Pressure Drugs:

Beta Blocker – This drug helps in reducing nerve signal to heart and blood vessel, lowering stress on heart helps lowering blood pressure.
ACE inhibitor - This drug helps blood vessel from getting narrow, which lowers pressure on heart and lowers blood pressure.
Calcium Channel Blocker – The drug prevents calcium going into heart and blood vessel. This helps cells to relax and which in turn lowers blood pressure.
Angiotensin II receptor blocker – This medication helps in widening blood vessel and stops hormone called angiotensin from affecting blood vessels.

At such higher elevation blood pressure can cause kidney failure and heart stroke problems. In stage 2 hypertension, aggressive treatment and strong discipline for lifestyle in needed to lower blood pressure.

Take control of your medical situation by consulting doctor in early stages and bringing changes in your lifestyle. The medication and changes in lifestyle go hand in hand; strong discipline will surely lower blood pressure. Lastly monitor your blood pressure, at least 2-3 times a day. Do not depend entirely on this blood monitoring equipment and at no point discard visit to Doctor. Your doctor is best to judge your medical situation. The statistics have shown that a combination of good drugs and changes in lifestyle have helped patient to lower blood pressure.

Generic High Blood Pressure Medication: A Safety Standard For High Blood Pressure Medication

Generic high blood pressure medications are quite safe to use and will also provide cost beneficial solutions that help to effectively control high blood pressure conditions. These generic high blood pressure medications are also known to contain the same active substances as the better known brand name high blood pressure medications contain.

In fact, the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration) also keeps a strict vigil on the sale of generic high blood pressure medications in the market which is heartening to note as you can now buy generic high blood pressure medications with greater confidence that they will prove effective and also will not cause too many ill effects.

Equivalent To Brand Name Medications

The definition of generic high blood pressure medications is that these medications are different versions of the better known high blood pressure medications and are mostly not patented though the substances contained in the generic high blood pressure medication is virtually the same as its brand name medication equivalent. Most people obviously purchase a generic high blood pressure medication because it is cheaper.

Sometimes, some of the better known brand name high blood pressure medication manufacturing companies will discontinue marketing their products after the patent for such medications have expired and this is when a company those manufacturers’ generic high blood pressure medications can step in and begin marketing a similar version of the brand name.

There is much to be said in favor of buying generic high blood pressure medications because these are as potent as their famous brand name equivalents and furthermore the generic versions are also safe to use since they contain the same quantities of active substances as is contained in the brand name medication. Furthermore, the generic versions are also tested and must pass safety standards before they can be sold on the market.

Only in a few instances will taking of generic high blood pressure medications lead to experiencing side effects and many of these side effects are only temporary as well as mild and are generally caused on account of the non-active substances contained in the generic medication. The best means of getting around these side effects is to simply switch to another generic high blood pressure medication.

Another way of getting around the problem of dealing with side effects of high blood pressure medications is trying natural high blood pressure medications. As a matter of fact, using prescription medications for your high blood pressure does not always ensure that the problem will be cured completely though the same is not true if you try out a natural alternative high blood pressure medication.

High Blood Pressure Medication and Cancer – Discover the Facts About This Scare

High blood pressure medication and cancer – are they connected? Much has been made of this in the news recently. In this article, I’ll tell you about the facts of this case.

ARBs

The controversy has revolved around a class of drugs known as ARBs. ARBs is short for angiotensin receptor blockers or angiotensin II receptor antagonists.

They block the effects of a natural hormone known as angiotensin II which is linked to high b.p. Note that these are different to classical ACE inhibitor drugs that are also used against high blood pressure. ACE inhibitors don’t block the effects of this hormone but they prevent it from being created.

Regardless, the net effect is the same. They prevent your blood vessels from narrowing which directly lower your b.p. They also cause you to release more water and, with it, sodium. Because sodium contributes to high b.p. then this means that ARBs will lower it.

ARBs And Cancer

The talk of these drugs causing cancer is due to a single study that came out in 2010. The study analysed the results of seven controlled trials and concluded that: “this meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials suggests that ARBs are associated with a modestly increased risk of new cancer diagnosis. Given the limited data, it is not possible to draw conclusions about the exact risk of cancer associated with each particular drug. These findings warrant further investigation.”

Blood Pressure Drugs And Alternatives

All drugs, especially those for high b.p., are riddled with side effects. Luckily, there are many medically recognised natural methods to defeat hypertension such as diet, exercise and either avoiding stress or, even better, learning how not to stop yourself from having the stress response.

High Blood Pressure Medications – Are They Driving Patients Away?

High blood pressure medication is the most common method of controlling hypertension. But could it also be a contributor to even higher blood pressure or worse?

With over 300 brands to choose from, often times the effectiveness of a given medication has to go through a trial and error period with an individual patient before a reasonable dosage or combination of drugs can be achieved. It’s during this period tat the patient is likely to experience side effects.

Side effects from high blood pressure medications can range from the annoying like a need to frequently urinate, to having an impact on the quality of life such as general fatigue, impotence, dizziness and blurred vision. In some instances, the drugs can actually cause what they are designed to control. Heart attacks, strokes and congestive heart failure are all possible side effects of some of the drugs.

A patient new to these medication may soon loose there tolerance for the side effects and the juggling of dosages and decide to abandon them all together. This is particularly true of persons with mild hypertension who considered themselves healthy before being diagnosed as hypertensive.

Unfortunately, high blood pressure has no outward symptoms and for many, the first time they realize they have the condition is when they have their blood pressure checked. As a result, the new patient weighs the misery of the side effects, and perhaps the cost of this new life long requirement, against life the way it used to be. It is not unreasonable to see why they chose to abandon the therapy even knowing the risk. In their minds, the cure is worse than the disease.

This of course is a trend that can be extremely dangerous. Hypertension can not be ignored. It will not go away by itself. It kills over 50,000 Americans each year.

If a patient decides they cannot tolerate the medicine, then they need to take other steps to control their condition.

Fortunately, there is an alternative to drugs. In fact the American Heart Association endorses changes in lifestyle over the use of medication. The fact is, this condition can not only be controlled, but reversed by making changes in diet, exercise and stress management. It’s not rocket science; it’s simply informed common sense and something that anyone can accomplish if they commit to it.

It’s estimated that of the 65 million Americans that have high blood pressure, one third don’t know they have it. Of the remaining 43 million who know they have the condition, fully a third are not treating it. This is a huge public health issue that screams out for attention.

It also begs the question as to why blood pressure medications are prescribed as the control of choice rather than encouraging healthy lifestyle choices. Is it simply a Western medicine tradition that there’s a pill for everything, or is it something else. When there is overwhelming evidence that this condition can be controlled naturally, why do we continue to put patients through the miseries and expense of medication?

It’s your body. If you are hypertensive then you have to make a decision as to how you will deal with it. You can’t just ignore it or it will eventually take its toll on you.

Did you know there is an alternative to high blood pressure medication that can quickly drop pressure 20 points in 3 weeks?
