actually, it all … actually, it all depends on the size of the patient’s arm and their typical blood pressure. We have a student in my class that we constantly have to take him up to 300 to get an accurate reading
pump it up that … pump it up that high to a patient who has osteoporosis, you may a kick!
Speaking of how much is pumping enough? All you have to do is take a radial pulse at the same time your are pumping your cuff. When the radial pulse is no longer palpable b/c of cut circulation, at 30mm Hg and STOP, that should be your limit. You’ll know when you start deflating you will most likely hear the SBP when you last felt a radial pulse.
yah dude your right … yah dude your right!! that’s the correct procedure!! having a high reading doesn’t immediately tell you that you have a high bp. you should take into consideration a lot of things like HOW YOU TOOK THE BLOOD PRESSURE!!!
guys i know he has … guys i know he has a “very big hypertension” problem. but raising the cuff pressure up to 300 mm Hg, without taking your initial systolic pressure, might cause pain and produce a higher bp reading and compromise the whole procedure????
