Have any women taken this medication during pregnancy for chronic hyper tension? I started taking it today and I am curious about other experience with this drug. My dr. first prescribed me Methyldopa (aka Aldomet) which made me so sick, I couldn't function. Now I am taking Labetalol.
Aldomet made me throw up all day long. I never got relief from it. I was in agony.
I have many patients that take this. Hopefully the Lebetalol won't cause any vomiting. Any Beta Blocker though will cause lowering of your heart rate, so you may feel like you don't have as much energy, may gain a little more weight with it. But it is very important to keep that blood pressure down. Good luck to you!
June 28th, 2009 — causes of high blood pressure
Im a 23 year old very healthy guy (with and excellent diet and daily 3 hour exercise routine, and with no high blood pressure genetic back ground).
Since last Monday i have had hi blood pressure measurements (145/95) at the gym before exercise, the problem is that I do not fell any side effects like dizziness, light headed, fatigue….and so on.
My physician ordered several exams (blood, urine and even thorax X-ray) but he did not found any thing that can cause it…could it be a could? Im not taking any medication at all!
What was the reading at your doctor's office? Could it be a problem with the blood pressure machine at the gym? Also, blood pressure can go up for a little while if there is anxiety involved. Is there something you are a little anxious about at the gym? Many people get blood pressure going higher when they go to doctor's – it's called white coat syndrome. To test for that they make you wear a blood pressure machine for a couple of days and do a reading of the two or three days to what the overall blood pressure would be. So, if you aren't taking medicine, my next question would be (and I'm thinking caffeine or ephedrine or both), since you work out so seriously, are you taking supplements or sports drinks or anything like that? Take a look at the label. Be careful of caffeine if you drink coffee or soft drinks with caffeine, and ephedrine, stop taking it! It's dangerous. Hope this helps.

I am 40 years old, and 29 weeks pregnant with baby number eight. I never get sick, and my blood pressure has always been perfect.
However, I have come down with severe head cold/flu type symptoms, and my blood pressure has risen to 155/88.
Should I be concerned? Perhaps get my blood pressure checked again in a few days?
you must seek doctor…. hypertension in pregnancy is one of the biggest problem to be concerned in pregnancy. in addition with your headache, i suggest you to see doctor as soon as possible.

I am currently taking Cozaar, but i don't feel as energetic and awake as I used to be. Is there any other medication that will not cause drowsiness or tiredness?
Cozar which is Losartan potassium does not cause drowsiness according to British National Formulary 2008. Its side effects are diarrhea, taste disturbances, cough , pain in joints, pruritus, rash.
But individuals may get side effects which have not been documented.
Losartan is an ACE inhibitor and if the doctor has prescribed Losartan, if a change is done it should be to a drug of the same group.
According to the BNF other members of this group too do not cause drowsiness.
They have similar side effects like that mentioned above.
Usually a change to another drug in the same group does not give the same side effects that one experiences. But unlike Losartan these drugs can cause a cough or aggravate an existing cough.
You may ask your doctor.
