I used to be a very heavy smoker, smoking 4 packs a day for several years. Then I quit for 8 years.
I’ve been having a ton of emotional problems, and (more recently) legal problems… so on April 28 of this past year, I started smoking again. I smoke about 2 packs a day and plan on quitting as soon as my life normalizes somewhat. I know it’s bad for my health.
But, I am very curious… whenever I have my cigarette of the day I get so dizzy I could passout if I wasn’t laying down and I start sweating a little. I have no problems with the rest of the cigarettes I smoke during the day- just that first one.
My blood pressure has been all over the place. When I originally smoked, it was actually dangerously low. Nowadays it’s normal to high. My pulse has been insanely fast ever since I was a kid and that’s not changed (my resting pulse can reach 120).
I’m not obese but I do have problems with anxiety and I take medication for that.
Anyone know what’s likely to be going on?
Thanks.
What is going on is probably quite simple. But not one single thing, I think.
Do yourself a favor. Talk with your doc, not yahoo answers. You'll be lucky if you get a qualified medical opinion here.
but you asked, so here is my few cents worth…
The effect of nicotine on your body…..
The effect of less oxygen reaching your brain…..
The fact that cigarettes contain over 500 additives that off-the-plant tobacco leaves don't…. and who knows what they are doing to you.
The fact that you are already medicated with whoever knows what (your doc will know better than anyone).
I know you feel you need it at the moment, but your body is telling you different.
You know it's bad for your health, so maybe stop the cigarettes. After all, it's only happening since you started again.
I smoked heavy for a long time. Quit for over a decade. Started again after divorce. I kicked it again because I chose to, cold turkey. Clear for over 18 months now (had to check the calendar for that).
Not going back to smoking tobacco, but I am living the legacy of the years of smoking already. So it's easy for me to say what I think…but speak to your doc.
